Brexiwhingers

Because people talking the country down and not giving their all to move on has a negative impact on not only themselves, but equally, if not more importantly, those around them that have no choice but to listen. You are as divisive as anyone Muttley, If Carry On Whinging were a film, you’d be one of the lead characters
Utter fcuking tripe

Moving forward is better than moaning. Give it a try you may improve your thought process and outlook by years, even decades.

Brexit though is like Dr King using rhetoric when preaching to the African Americans back in the day and telling his followers;

‘look, apartheid isn’t all that bad, it’s had a bad press. Let’s vote for it and it at least gives us clarity as to where we stand in society so we can make it work and we’ll be better for it with clear boundaries and everyone will be happy’

Many of the 48% seen this as utter carnage and an incredible act of self harm
It’s like you don’t want to watch someone getting slayed (successful businesses failing overnight) in the street and just keep walking, saying, come on come in, once their dead, things will get better
They won’t
Brexit is and will continue to be a clusterfcuk and one of the greatest damaging acts on this country’s history

For some pro Brexit balance this is a great article in today's Guardian by Hanns Werner Sinn who serves on the German economy ministry's advisory council. He states, "EU's Covid vaccination debacle is down to institutional inflexibility"

At this point in time, not being part of the EU has meant millions have been vaccinated and many lives have and will be saved. In anyone's world that is a good thing.

Today's Guardian

The very old, those that actually fought in WW2, were very much in favour of staying in the EU because they appreciated the crucial role it played in avoiding another horrific European war.
This seems to back it up, those that were around were pro EU, thise that weren't but act like they were are against?

I think whatever camp we were in, we now all need to move on.
Whilst I agree to a point and a collective drive to make the most of it will be the most productive approach; those on both sides have to be able to highlight where they have been failed by this government. If we just ignore the issues we are less likely to be able to make the necessary changes needed to limit the damage that Brexit inevitably will cause.

Where I agree entirely with your sentiment is that the identity politics needs to be dropped, all this 'Remoaner' and 'Brexwingers' labelling and tribalism just brings about two opposing ideologists. We all need to be pragmatic and collectively hold the government accountable for their failings and push for changes which will limit damage and create the opportunity to grow. If the last five years have proved anything, it is that tribalism does not benefit society as a whole, the fringes of politics have to much control over policy and they are actively courting the divisions that are appearing in society.

The state of politics in the UK and the US has rarely been this bad, the things politicians get away with saying and their general behaviour would have been career killers as recently as the 90s. We shouldn't enable them by creating more division and throwing stones at each other, we should be collectively telling them **** you we deserve better.

We will only know the truth about how Brexit has impacted us as a nation in 24 to 36 months. Until then Remainers will worry and remain concerned about any negative stories that arise as fundamentally they can only be truly comforted by a return to EU membership. Brexiteers, as we are currently seeing, will in the early days celebrate achieving status quo as a victory and hope in time the things they voted for - reduced immigration and a place on the worlds stage as a major trading nation become a reality. I have always felt and are yet to be convinced differently that leaving was a better choice than staying but as I can do nothing about it for the next few years I’m not devoting a lot of energy towards the argument anymore as on here at least positions have simply hardened and debate become if it was possible even more divisive.

Major trading nation? In your dreams.
We are a major trading nation, Brexit will likely lessen our standing to a degree but we will remain a major trading nation.

Our entire modern economy is based and founded in part on the principles of free trade that will not change because of Brexit.

If you substitute are for were, I would agree. We have just ditched our biggest trading partner.

We will still trade with them! Brexit does not mean we cease to trade with the EU, it will just be more expensive to do so.

I agree Brexit will harm our standing and wealth, we will no cease to be a major trading nation though, that kind of rhetoric does not add anything to the discussion either. We all need to come away from being so sensationalist in how we communicate, the UK will remain a major trading nation, the extent to how much Brexit will impact that is a valid discussion but saying we are simply not a major trading nation is just untrue.
