strange that there appears to be little appetite to adopt "rejoin" as a policy.
I don't think that is a big surprise to be honest. According to polls, the majority think brexit is going badly but that doesn't equate to an appetite to rejoin. There was a fair bit of bad blood during and after the referendums the 4 years that followed. People were sick of it and that may have contributed to Johnsons majority. Not that people still thought it was a good idea! They just wanted it done.strange that there appears to be little appetite to adopt "rejoin" as a policy.
it feels like a tailormade policy for Lbour to get behind, especially in the current economic climateI don't think that is a big surprise to be honest. Similarly it will take a while of the brexit bite to get folks to support a rejoin party.
Think they'll see it as just too risky.it feels like a tailormade policy for Lbour to get behind, especially in the current economic climate
A spiffing policy to get behind - one where the people have already voted to come out, and an policy which would mean us getting rid of the £ to adopt the €, and where the UK would stand cap in hand well behind ‘top dogs’ France and Germany. A wonderful policy.it feels like a tailormade policy for Lbour to get behind, especially in the current economic climate
It would be a gamble - but Labour were a "Remain" party. I think it should be very clear to the electorate where their ambitions lie.Think they'll see it as just too risky.
A big part of it is people are very reluctant to admit they're wrong and you can guarantee the Tory strategists would be all over it as a "betrayal of democracy" etc.
Either way you'd hope labour have done/are doing all the polling and focus groups etc on it and are basing their strategy on the data (which presumably says "not yet").
I don't agree. This would be a policy that is polar opposite to the Conservatives. in the current economic situation, I believe this would be a vote winner.A spiffing policy to get behind - one where the people have already voted to come out, and an policy which would mean us getting rid of the £ to adopt the €, and where the UK would stand cap in hand well behind ‘top dogs’ France and Germany. Based on what has happened with free movement, the current economic situation and Ukraine, I think there would be considerable support to rejoin in some form.
For me, at this moment in time, this is the policy that would achieve thisBut more importantly I want the Tories out.
At this point by whatever means it takes.
Take away everything else, as long as your money goes as far do you really care what it looks like? Especially as we’re rapidly heading towards a cashless society anyway.A spiffing policy to get behind - one where the people have already voted to come out, and an policy which would mean us getting rid of the £ to adopt the €, and where the UK would stand cap in hand well behind ‘top dogs’ France and Germany. People shouldn't care but they will. And they'll be told to care by the likes of the mail and Farage.Take away everything else, as long as your money goes as far do you really care what it looks like? Especially as we’re rapidly heading towards a cashless society anyway.
I do think labour have played this one really well. They have committed to address the short comings of brexit which their are a major minority of voters that would support this rather than a full rejoin.
