Both vaccines not enough

Just a heads up, I have had both vaccines and followed all the covid advice so I naturally thought I was low risk, well unfortunately it got me this week I am not sure how, where or when.

Anyway I was thinking if I ever did get this it would be only mild but I was mistaken, this virus is a beast, I hope to turn the corner soon but having made me feel this ill I can only thank everybody behind the vaccination effort for giving my body a fighting chance, I am not overweight and above average fitness for my age, it does not seem to matter once this virus gets hold as a I can barely drag myself out of bed....stay cautious guys.

A colleague at work the same, had both jabs and felt confident enough to mix with family. Felt that Ill that they stayed in bed for 4 days, very unwell with all the delta symptoms. On the mend but struggling with brain fog, tiredness and shortness of breath.

It’s never been claimed that the vaccine stops you getting Covid, but it increases your chances by about 90% of not being hospitalised or over 98% of dying. That’s why everybody should be getting vaccinated. It is a brutal disease but we do have to learn to live with it.

Great to hear you’re on the mend. 👍🏻

absolutely, I decided to share my experience just because it is brutal and that's with the consideration of me being fit with two jabs to help, I wouldn't like to experience this virus been unvaccinated it just doesn't bare thinking about, now I am not going to preach as everybody has to make up their own minds, hopefully we will turn the corner soon on this despicable virus.

The most annoying phrase around this whole pandemic now.

Just plays right into the government's propaganda.
The whole thing is annoying and devastating to so many, if we could turn back the clock so much of this would have been avoidable, sadly I can no longer feel confident that we will ever get rid of covid, from your response I expect your young, I know first hand how this has affected the young as my daughter has turned 16 and then 18 under covid restrictions both massive events for any child, I hope that there is light and hope especially for the young.

Your daughter turned 16 and 18 under covid restrictions?

Think you’ve made a mistake.

It's an absolute lottery. My 27 year old son got it 3 weeks back. Fit as you could never imagine, athlete + semi pro footballer. Had his first jab. He was really unwell for 3 days. We were concerned. Of course we isolated, me +Mrs B were double jabbed, and our youngest had had his first. Result? Nothing in terms of illness from the rest of the family.

I definitely lowerd my guard as I've been double jabbed for nearly 6 weeks. Yet I've heard of 5 mates who are still serving in the navy coming down with it in the last couple of weeks. They were all double jabbed

They are all 'fine' and early 30s. I guess reasonably fit and healthy (as healthy as matlots can be😂).

Just goes to show its not the final answer. My parents are 81 and 83 going around like they are 'immune' after being double vaccinated. I keep telling them it's not anywhere near 100% (or even the 80 odd we were told).

They do say it reduces the effects of covid? God knows as you'd never know how you would have got on without it.

Get well soon fella👍

It never will be enough will it?

We were told the vaccines were the way out of this. First vaccinating the 9 priority groups, then the over 50s, then over 40s, now all adults and the goalposts have been shifted to all kids.

Then what happens? Booster jabs for the Autumn. Now it’s all about long covid. Just the other day a poll found that 26% of respondents believed nightclubs should be closed indefinitely, are we also going to do away with all music and sport events too? If you continue to wear masks, wash your hands, avoid social contact and have had both jabs, you have given yourself the maximum possible protection. Unless you want to spend the rest of your life at home, which frankly wouldn’t surprise me with some individuals.

Questions have still not been answered regarding when it is safe to return to normal, the proper normal. Zero cases and deaths? Which are simply impractical. It scares me that there are people who are nonchalant about having some form of restrictions for the rest of their lives and want ‘Big Brother’ to decide what’s best for them rather than taking their own decisions and judgement despite learning about this virus.

There will also be threats of new variants, getting sick despite being vaccinated, just like there is a threat of you being hit by a car tomorrow. You only live once, go out and enjoy it.

Hope you are feeling better soon, stay strong and hopefully you turn the corner Soon Fridgeman. 👍

Given the events of this week, I think many more jabbed will be in hospital due to Johnson experimenting with our lives, the b’stard.

I prefer the phrase ‘we need to learn how not to die from this virus than learn how to live with it‘, personally!
