Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. Once again 3 of our subs involved in the winner but was Howson's ball to Latte Lath........
a) A fantastic piece of vision and pin point pass or ...........
b) A panicky 'just get shot of the fecking thing' style clearance that fell lucky.
🤔

It's the sort of ball you can play with the pace and power of Lath and Rodgers up there I think, I'd say the pass was intended but fortuitous rather than an absolute worldie though!

I'd love it to have been fully intentional, but I think he's just smashed it in that general direction.

I don't think it was a clearance though.

Both of those things to an extent. I'd say he'd have looked up and seen that Lath was high up the field out on the left side, hence why he hit the ball in that direction.

9 times out of 10 though he probably doesn't hit that pass with such precision.

The goal might have come from a bit of a hoof but our first attack of the day was pure football.

Engel cuts a ball out on the left hand side of our box and plays it to Barlaser in the D of the box, Barlaser two touches and then to Hackney, Hackney one touch to Smith, Smith one touch and then to Jones, Jones straight pass inside to Crooks, Crooks two touches and knocks it outside to Jones, Jones after one touch plays a ball through for Coburn to run on to who put it wide. Coburn had run offside but if he had managed to stay on and score, it would have been goal of the season.

The thing is though, we repeat this throughout game(s).

It is from 1.17 onwards of the link and is well worth a watch.

I was pretty much behind Howson, and that pass was 100% intended. Lathe had been crying out for that sort of ball to run onto. Howson looked, hit it with pace and it looked to me like he hit it with the outside of his boot deliberately.

Yes he cut across it to bend it left to right. It was clearly very deliberate and he executed it perfectly.

Well I was definitely a), it's Jonny Howson FFS, of course he meant it. But having watched Inside Matchday I'm now leaning more towards b), i.e. sheer jam. Looks more like he's desperately hooking the ball away before the Birmingham lad can get a foot on it.

Lovely move that. If Jones had squared it back to Crooks then either him or Greenwood would have been well placed for a shot with zero offside risk.
