Boro's 25 Man Squad

What about players like Willis, Gitau, Stott and Nkumrah. They are stuck in u21s all season and can’t be registered unless they can get a loan?
All still count as u21s so could play without being registered.

They can also go on loan to non-league at any point.

Cain Sykes is the only one still with us (plus Hoppe) who is now considered over 21.

1. Seny Dieng
2. Tom Glover
3. Zach Hemming (Home Grown)
4. Sol Brynn (HG)
5. Tommy Smith (HG)
6. Luke Ayling (HG)
7. Matt Clarke (HG)
8. Dael Fry (HG)
9. Anfernee Dijksteel
10. Alex Bangura
11. Darragh Lenihan (HG)
12. Lukas Engel
13. Dan Barlaser (HG)
14. Hayden Hackney (HG)
15. Riley McGree
16. Isaiah Jones (HG)
17. Jonny Howson (HG)

20. Emmanuel Latte Lath
21. Matthew Hoppe
22. Alex Gilbert (HG)

25. Delano Burgzorg
26. Cain Sykes (DOB 14/8/2002) (HG)
27. Jack Hannah (DOB 25/12/2002) (HG)

Assuming we are registering the injured players that was 22 above - and then:

23. Tommy Conway
24. Neto Borges
25. George Edmondson

1 Dieng
2 Brynn
3 Glover
4. Ayling
5 Dijksteel
6 Clarke
7 Fry
8 Lenihan
9 Edmundson
10 Borges
11 Engel
12 Hackney
13 Morris
14 Howson
15 Barlaser
16 Jones
17 Doak
18 Azaz
19 Gilbert
20 McGree
21 Hamilton
22 Latte Lath
23 Conway
24 Burgzorg
25 ??????

Leaves 1 space for 3 injured players Forss, Smith or Bangura

Don’t need to be registered VDB McCabe, McCormick, Hunt and Wilson

Does Hamilton need to be registered?
“Their definition of 'Under 21' this season is very simply defined as 'any player born on or after January 1 2004'.”

Hamilton was born November 2003, so needs to be registered. 1 space for Forss, smith or bangura. I suspect it’s Forss that gets the nod

Depends if he’s registered Fry and Lenihan yet or holding off to see who’s back first. Bangura will likely be out for the season but definitely not before January so he’s not in the equation.

For me it’s 3 spaces between the below, with smith the most likely to have to miss out, but wouldn’t surprise me if it ends up being the last one to get fit.

Lenihan
Fry
Smith
Forss

Smiths been out a year now, with Double no steel staying until January and Ayling the number one, I don’t see where smith gets a kick anyway. Being out so long he’d need 2 months just to get his required fitness back

Yes, even though he's still currently 20.

The definition of an under 21 player this season is somebody born on or after the 1st of January 2004.

He was born on the 13th of November 2003.
This isn't correct, it's after 1/1/03 as in the OP. Hamilton doesn't need to be registered.

Seems like a lot of websites have copied the same incorrect information then.

They're all repeating that 2004 line, and it's what comes up first when you Google the definition.

I did think it seemed different to last season.

I've copied this from this season's EFL regulations, just to be sure:

Yeah I see what you mean having done a search.
I can't seem to find definitive proof for this year but I doubt they will have changed the rules.

They haven't, the OP is right, so I'm not too sure how the mistake has came about.

I'd just taken the results off Google at face value, being a bit lazy, but I've just checked through this season's EFL Regulations and it's the same as usual.

So we have 26 players to register then (excluding Hoppe and Sykes) which means one of the injured players (I would assume Bangura) won't be.

Think that’s right 👍

A lot of depth to pick from in that forward line.

Jones
Forss
Azaz
Gilbert
Burgzorg
Hamilton
McGree
Doak
Conway
Lath

Ajay Matthews as an academy option.
