Boro women

3-0 but both teams taken off on 75 mins owing to an injury to a York player.
Edit: match abandoned. Thoughts are with the injured player.

Sad ending to an otherwise enjoyable evening. Hope the York player is ok, didn’t see her go down as it was off the ball but she was down a good 5 minutes before being stretchered off.

Boro could have won by a cricket score, hit the woodwork 3 times and Yorks keeper made some excellent saves (let 1 slip through her fingers for the first goal ). Two wingers were excellent and Boro looked a class above York.

Daughter enjoyed it and the players put on a good show in driving rain and blustery winds.

Boro drew 0-0 with Chorley away today. Still top!

Other results and lots of goals today:

Barnsley 3-0 Stockport
Cheadle town 2-3 Leeds
Doncaster 1-3 Norton
Durham 2-3 Huddersfield
York 2-0 Fylde

Two cup games coming up against Darwen FC and West Brom in the next two weeks.

Boro have been drawn away to Wythenshawe. They are below Boro in the football league pyramid. A great chance to progress further in the competition. This game will take place in November.

The rearranged York City game is this Wednesday evening. 19:45 kick off at Green Lane. This is the game that Boro were winning 3-0 before it was abandoned owing to a York player’s serious injury.

How does this work? Do they start again or kick off 3 - 0 up?

Start again from 0-0. Don’t understand why they didn’t just give boro the 3 points since they were 3-0 up and there wasn’t long left in the game.

I can't really understand why it was abandoned to begin with, tbh.

They have subs, there was only 20 minutes of the match left and the result was a foregone conclusion.

Guessing it's just different protocols at lower levels.

Apparently a panel were due to meet to decide whether the game should be replayed or the result stand. They have decided to replay the game. I've not seen any report on the makeup of this panel and how they arrived at this decision. Perhaps MFC themselves will enlighten us, although I'm not holding my breath.

It is bizarre, but this is from the Club Website:

The home fixture against the Minsterbelles will now be played next Wednesday, 16 October 7.45 pm at Redcar Athletic's Green Lane.

The FA WNL board issued the following statement confirming their decisions: "The fixture between Middlesbrough and York City in the FA WNL Division One North on Wednesday 25th September was abandoned due to an injury to a player. The FA WNL Board ordered the match be replayed in full."

Everyone at Middlesbrough FC would once again like to share our best wishes with the player involved and hope she has a speedy recovery.

I keep thinking this thread will help me in my relationship with my boro bird..... and being constantly disappointed...
