Boro vs AFC Bournemouth

Fresh start for the lad.
Stands a good chance of staking his claim for a place in the team.
At least we seem to be gearing up for success this season.....In Warrior Warnock we trust(y)

I was lucky enough to have a ticket today. I was really happy with the first half performance (goal aside which I thought was once again another soft goal given away needlessly).

Second half I don't think we played as well until we moved McNair a bit further forward - he looked really good in that role and obviously created the goal we deserved.

Today was an improvement from last season at home but we are desperately short in wide areas and we need somebody to get their foot on the ball in midfield possibly beat a man and pick some passes in the final 3rd. Until we start creating better quality chances we are going to struggle to win games. Defensively we look solid most of the time when teams try to counter but when we have to deal with a bit of pressure we get very ragged hopefully down to new players lacking understanding. Individually the CBs look OK.
For me the keeper takes the blame again for the first goal silly Hollywood save for the initial effort if he takes half a step to the left he should catch that it was about 3 yards wide of his starting position. Then the punch from the resulting corner for the corner that led to the goal was very poor it wasnr a difficult ball to deal with and then he let's another goal in near post which gets past him far too easily he took an age to get down. He looks about 45 the way he moves. Yeh he made a few saves at the end I think the solanke strike just hit him and the other was something any keeper at that level should deal with. Coupled with the Barnsley performance hes not better than Pears from what I've seen and I didnt rate him much at Fulham either.
McNair and howson are playing very well which is pleasing we need the attacking players wing backs and keeper to up their game and we will be a decent side everybody apart from Johnson and that keeper are certainly capable of much better than shown today

We would have won that with a decent striker on the park. Much better than last years dross. Get well soon Neil.

Hopefully the new man can make the difference. Pleased for Browne I felt if he was given a chance he could make an impact this season that should give him confidence for the next few weeks. I'd like to see him play in Tavs role next game I think Tav is in poor form and could do with taking out for a few games.

I think Tindall watched a different game; they had a couple of break away chances but we absolutely dominated the majority of the game and they were fortunate not to be behind at half time. They were outclassed for huge periods of the game and he quotes this:

Bournemouth manager Jason Tindall told BBC Radio Solent:
"It's disappointing to throw the three points away. We missed a good chance to make it 2-0 and their keeper has pulled off a great save right at the death.
"There were a lot of restarts, a lot of free-kicks and it was a very stop-start game and hard to get to grips with it.
"But overall I felt we had the better chances and we're disappointed not to win, but more importantly pleased not to lose."

Watford and Bournemouth, I think were 2 games we could have won. Neither team looked great despite some talented individuals.

Maybe both teams will pull it round but I cant see either challenging for promotion.

Really happy to see us claw it back today but not impressed overall. Still missing something going forward. We are too pedestrian. Need too many touches.

Our goal is a good example of how easy it could be.

My biggest issue with both games is the soft goals we STILL concede. I wasn't at all impressed with our performance against Watford but our first half performance today was excellent (goal aside) yet we still don't create enough - we're a creative midfielder light. I don't think Saville offered enough today and our crossing could have been better for most of the game.

not a good game to watch, stop start and was worried Johnson was going to give a penna away. Team played with composure and max effort. Missing that number 10 quality that Tav hopefully will start to give. Vast improvement on last season with basically same squad. Optimistic - need more points even at this early stage we are looking at the wrong end of the table. The coaching quality is plain to see, what on earth were our coaches doing last season?

Erimus- Good to see you've had a change of heart and are watching/following the games after vowing you wouldn't(y)
I vowed I wouldn't watch the games last season, said my bit, didn't agree with it one minute, still don't think it should have continued, but that's gone & in the past, mind I did watch the Sheff Weds v Boro game

disappointed that we settled for the draw after equalising, bit of time wasting and backwards passing. If we could have applied a bit of pressure we could have won.
It seemed all about not losing though. Maybe not a bad idea who knows.

I think if there had been a crowd it may have been different

It was a bit of an odd game, I honestly thought we were the better team throughout, playing really well in parts but constantly falling down in the final third, yet our 2 best players were Bettinelli, who IMHO was MOTM, followed closely by Dijksteel, that tells the story of us at present
I do like the way the management team are setting us up & if we are successful in getting the majority of players he wants then we'll be in for a good season
I do actually like Browne, he's the type of player who could excite the crowd, he's had a very difficult settling in period at the club TBH

Two great saves by Bettinelli, but why didn't he catch the ball for the corner that gave away the goal?

I agree it was quite an "odd" game, and a pretty poor spectacle I thought. We scored totally against the run of play first half, yet I always thought if we could just string a few moves together we would score, but credit to boro that boro that very rarely happened. and fortunately (for you) solanky cant shoot anyway. a frustrating stop/start game, thought players from both teams too willing to go to ground, and a referee that unfortunately encouraged that. was impressed by boro, they certainly seem better organised & motivated this season.

The game should have turned on its head when Brit was one on one and his arm was pulled to impede him. The defender should have been sent off. The ref bottled it.
