Boro under 21s v Lyon at the Riverside tonight

Great shot from the Guru Gitau, great save yet again from their keeper.

Keeper is their man of the match

Don't know how we haven't managed to bury one here. Their defence has been dodgy at set pieces, and they haven't offered anything attacking in the second half. We don't really deserve to be losing this.

The ref has given us plenty of free kicks for fouls in the middle of the pitch, but won't give us anything in the final third or the penalty area.

…and finch once again foiled in the area and nothing given, ref is worse than that German ref who fiddled us in a friendly years ago

Gitau did play well tonight, feels like he's missed the boat a bit now though with the first team. You never know though.

Thought Harley Hunt had a good game too, especially in the 1st half when he was more involved.

McCabe was neat and tidy.

Overheard someone saying that Finch was unhappy at MK Dons, didn't suit the new manager, and is off to Carlisle in Jan to follow Mike Williamson (left MKD in September).

Ahhh the big number 6 was Harley Hunt. He looked decent yeah, nice turn of pace and hit a few good long balls.

I thought McCabe looked the most talented player out there, and Matthews looks a bit of a radgey lad 😅

Well the situation at the boro is safe for years.

Lots of lovely play, not many clear cut chances and a bit of a mess up to give away a goal.

Just like watching the 1st tesm. They look good on the ball but no real killer instinct

You'd be surprised, very little interest in what is happening on the pitch, some kids are far too young, but what is the right age to start taking a child to games. When its free it doesnt matter if they were paying £150-200 for the privledge im not so sure they'd be there.

Evening games also see a massive drop in numbers in the GRFZ
I can understand the late nights tbh

It depends on the kids really.. if a kid goes and enjoys it.. then they’re old enough.

I thought McCabe looked decent good.

Lots of sporadic bits of quality here and there for both sides.. I guess that’s the difference between U21s and the first team.

No genuine stand out players for me.

I thought the first half was a bit disappointing with how we set up.. bit of a 4-4-2 hoof ball situation going on.

2nd half we switched to 4-3-3 with Bakre in that centra Finn Azaz position.. much more of the golden thread there I think.

Especially with the result not reflecting the overall performance.

Sounds like tonight’s game was well received as the next one has been moved to the Riverside.

Good to see Forss get some more minutes under his belt.

Ye Matthew’s allowed himself to get frustrated that he wasn’t getting any decisions or any change out of their defenders

Another thing, I think it’s the first time I’ve sat in the west stand for a night match, and the floodlights from the east stand are so fooking bright! Felt like I was squinting the whole match.

Much prefer my cheap seat in the north 😅
