Neil Warnock’s squad will get a final opportunity to clock up more valuable minutes on the pitch in the final pre-season friendly at Rotherham this evening (7pm).

The New York Stadium clash will the last outing before Boro kick-off the new Sky Bet Championship season at Fulham on Sunday August 8 (1.30pm).

It’s the sixth first team friendly of the summer and Warnock’s side go into the game having been given a rude awakening at York City earlier this week when the National League North side emerged 2-1 winners.

The big plus from the game was the return of Jonny Howson, who made his first appearance of the summer and played over an hour of the contest. Defender Sol Bamba was also given a senior run-out for the first time since joining the club for training.

The game represents a quick return to Rotherham for Matt Crooks, who was a Millers player just 10 days ago before making the switch to Teesside.

It’s the second time Boro have come up against League One opposition this summer, having beaten Plymouth Argyle last Friday when Crooks and Marcus Tavernier were the goalscorers.

Tickets are available on the night for Boro fans from the Away Ticket Office. This is CASH ONLY

  • Adult: £15

  • Juvenile (13-17): £3

That's good going - didn't expect that many. Presumably that's just Boro or in total?

Think the Geordies took 1400 or so.
