Boro Mini Kits Stock

I wondered if Rob or anyone had any knowledge on whether Boro will have some new stock for home kit in size 3/4 years??

My son turned 2 (and is a bit of a unit) at the start of September. I tried to order the kit in August not long after it came out but it wasn’t in stock. Added my email so I could be informed when it comes back in. End of November and still no update and still out of stock online.

Don’t want to slag the club or Errea too much but quite ridiculous that I can’t buy my son the kit for his birthday or Christmas. It’s getting to the point where it’s half way through the season, so will be in the sale soon!

Im trying my best to build him up to be a Boro fan and get his first kit. I’m hoping his relatives don’t get him an Arsenal kit for Christmas!

Thanks! UTB

MFC retail’s stock control is comical unfortunately, it’s no wonder there’s so many people knocking schnide ones out on Facebook - it’s as much about getting hold of one as the fact they’re 75% cheaper.

If they do just burn it and ostracise them.

If you are local go in the shop and ask before the Preston match.

Club shop is a joke.

Mam and dad went down to the club shop in September just so they could get the grandkids shirts for Xmas. Apart from the home one was sold out so nephew has to get an away one.

To complete the kit, thought we'd get my son the away shorts and socks. No chance, sold out "don't know if they will be In stock for Xmas".

Same for a couple of hoodies.

Amateur hour, getting worse sadly. ☹️

How much of a unit is he? Based on comments I've seen it sounds like the adult XL will possibly fit a 2 year old.

Rob - surely this can be brought up at the next forum meeting - the club's stock control is a complete joke and getting worse. It's crazy easy to get the knock off kits yet MFC cannot seem to get the genuine stuff in stock, it beggars belief how much £££ they miss out on.

My lad wanted a shirt at the start of the season, none in stock in his size. Then instead he wanted the away tracksuit top, none in stock.

It’s an absolute joke, it must be a deliberate strategy from the club to order minimum stock and sell it at full price so they don’t have to discount it at the end of the season.

I have brought this up and they totally dispute it. They reckon in the past they carried too much stock and now through careful stock control they have no waste. No end of season sale sell off and are selling record amounts. I have personally brought this up several this season at fans request. But have been told stock levels are following plans. And they say very successfully.
Shop turning over £2m a year now.
Last season was a massive problem.largely caused by Brexit.
What I will try and do is get a Q and A with Jo-Ann the manager and see if we can put the questions to her.
She answered questions at Boro Supporters 2020 last month and gave lots of facts and figures to support her assertions.
She also says they she will always return faulty goods.
But says that less than 1% of shirts this season have needed to be returned. So, this is a long way from the perception on social media and is an amazingly low total.
It was really encouraging that Errea invited fans, collectors and fan designers to a special zoom to their factory design shop last week to listen to feedback about favourite shirts, quality, quantity etc and fan choice in future designs.

That's absolute bullsh*t (not aimed at Rob btw)

For the second season running demand has outstripped supply and many people have been unable to get kits/tops.

They order in, say, 20k sell out and pat themselves on the back job well done targets met. But how do they keep a check on the number of fans who are unable to get kit? They don't, so haven't a clue how many fans have to do without, spend their money elsewhere.

Next season, order in 20k.......repeat. And if you take into consideration the feel good factor and crowds increasing.......

Once again, Boro being ridiculously short sighted.

Kids, many already priced out of being regular attendee's at the Riverside, can't get kits so bob down to Sports Direct and get a City/PSG/Barcelona one. Watch the PL on Sky.

Way to go to hook the fans of the future.

Oh, and know a few people who have bought this year's kit and it has clicked, bobbled etc but just couldn't be ars*d to take it back.

The thing is, people buy for people all through the year for Birthdays/ Christmas etc. not just before the season.

The online shop has next to nothing available.

There should be a bit of everything available until probably end of Jan you would think.

The club may have their data and feel they are doing it right. But just doesn’t seem correct that the new home kit is sold out in August and never restocked.

Maybe they want everyone to pre-order and base the order with Errea off that.

And they should know how many fans haven’t got them to some extent as I you can add your email address and be contacted when back in stock. As I said above, I’ve not heard back since mid-August.

Commercially the club is an absolute joke. The setup is similar to a League 2/non-league club. The quality of the kits is dreadful and there is never any stock. It was Black Friday yesterday, one of the the biggest day in ecommerce and I had a look on the website. Absolutely no reference. Club just seems like they can't be bothered to make any effort to drive any extra revenue. My 3 year old boy is going to his football class in a Real Madrid strip as can't get my hands on a Boro mini kit. Part of the issue and lack of ambition always goes back to that Gibson thinks all the fans live within 5 miles of the stadium and isn't bothered about anyone out of the area. Given the fact commercially it is now a global game, it is easy to understand why we struggle so much financially with the "local club for local people" attitude. Any issue crops up and the suggestion is for you to take a walk down to the stadium which is is always very frustrating for the many fans living out of the area.

Just like to add to this, although smaller and a more limited range (much less tat) Stockport County of League 2 has kits, t shirts, hoodies etc available.

So my son started the season in a Puma County kit as we couldn't get a Boro one late August. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

You’re supposed to represent the fans Rob not parrot the clubs talking points.

Sounds exactly how I said it was, reduced orders, sell at full price then pat themsleves on the back that they’ve sold out. If they have excess stock and have to sell a shirt at £25 as oppose to £45 they’re still making a profit.

The quality is garbage. Last season I took my away shirt back to club shop as the material had come away on one of the sleeves, they told me I could return it but they couldn’t give me another one as they had none it stock. This was September. Asked them when they’d have them back in for me to exchange, “no idea” was the answer. So in the end I kept it and my wife was able to repair it with her sewing skills. But that wouldn’t have counted as a return, so they can claim I’m one of their 99% of satisfied customers.

Bought my lad the home shirt this season, covered in snags and clicks after wearing it to one game. What’s the point in taking it back? The next shirt would be made of the same material. So as far as they’re concerned again I’m one of their happy customers.

You can claim it’s social media perception but I was at Bradford and 4 of us had the blue/yellow shirt on and none were happy with the quality, and social media is currently awash with people offering counterfeit shirts that are of similar quality that fans can actually purchase. If people were happy with the product they were getting they wouldn’t be so many buying knock-offs.

I went in the club shop yesterday to buy my nephew a home shirt for Christmas. None. Away shirt? None.

It’s the busiest trading period of the year and you don’t have stocks of your main product, but of course they say everything is great.

well said Ingleby

I’d also be looking at the photographer who took the photo of the kit. At least unfold the sleeve and straighten it up at bit 😀

Am giving you the answers I was given when posing the question to the club officials which is what I have been asked to do.
I would ask you to be more civil in your replies to me.
