Boro 2 Bristol City 0
Me & my younger brother standing in the boysend, star struck at our latest signing, a Celtic former European cup winning legend, making his home debut, in front of 17,069, our biggest crowd of the season so far at Ayresome Park
This day, seen the mighty Boro put leaders Bristol City to the sword, with a 2-0 win, goals from home debutant Bobby Murdoch & Davey Armstrong with his 2nd Boro 1st team carear goal, 1st goal of the season & 1st at Ayresome Park
Victory seen Boro draw level with City at the top of the table, a position we occupied for the duration of that fantastic, unbelievable, so glad I was old enough, probably never be repeated again season
After 3 consecutive goalless draws, Villa, Orient & Blackpool (good job flyme wasn't around back then) it was a great win at the right time, against a team who had come to AP full of confidence to stay clear at the top of the table & in the process of winning 2-0 we had gone 5 consecutive games without conceding a goal, a feat we were to master that season at home
Big Jacks team
Jim Platt
John Craggs
Frank Spraggon
Graeme Souness
Stuey Boam
Willie Maddren
Bobby Murdoch
David Mills
John Hickton
Alan Foggon
Davey Armstrong
