Boro 11th in form table

Those 24 games include playing 6 of the top 8 sides (ignoring ourselves), making it more impressive.
And one of Burnley's wins can now be replaced for a draw from last night, meaning we're now only 3 points behind them in that champo form table.

OK update time and it's big movement, as Boro now have better form against top 6 teams than Watford who are key play off contenders. Not quite reached Sheff Utds points per game against the top sides, but tonight really narrowed those ppgs. In fact If Millwall beat Sheff Utd at the weekend, Boro and Sheff Utd will have identical ppgs vs the top teams. Purely on ppg and the remaining fixtures, I'd expect us to pick up 3-5 points on them, that's without any changes in form, injuries or bottling it.

Sheff Utd still have great form vs the top sides, and of course they have plenty of opportunity to bank points there, but they also have plenty of tough games to lose points.

Other news West Brom's home draw with Blackburn means they have failed to beat a promotion/play-off rival at the Hawthorns in 5 games! A good omen for us when we go there.

To be fair I thought that, then noted where West Brom were, which surprised me TBH.

Home/away makes a difference.

WBA drew their last home match before playing us, but had won 6 at home on the bounce before that. Their away form is poor.

Swansea have taken 4 points from their last 5 at home. This includes defeats to Brum and Stoke and a draw with Rotherham.

Fivethirtyeight gives us a 72% chance of making the playoffs and 41% chance of winning them (next nearest on 21%)

They're predicting Norwich over two legs in the semi and winner of Luton/Millwall in the final.

In other good news, Sunderland's chances of promotion have dropped to 1% :)

Looking at this it seems that the hardest run ins are Luton, Sunderland then Sheff Utd. The easiest are Watford, Boro and Millwall.

When we compare ourselves directly with Sheff Utd, we both have 2 tough home games left. But we only have one tough away and they have three! There away form is poor against the good sides, I'd expect us to pick up 4 points naturally due to the more difficult fixtures. E.g. They have Burnley and Norwich away, to our Huddersfield and Bristol away.

Second place could go down to goal difference!

Play offs obviously us or Sheff Utd, but I'm going for Millwall, Blackburn and Watford sneaking the final spot. Luton and Norwich just missing out by a couple of points and Sunderland and Cov comfortably behind them, in fact Sunderland might drop like a stone.

Big 6 pointers coming up this week:
Sheff Utd vs Luton
Norwich Sunderland
