The FA Cup match in January. Brighton put in one of the best away performances at the Riverside and we couldn’t get the ball off them. They have sinced proved how good they are. Today we played just like them. We mesmerised Reading. The football we are playing is up there with the best I’ve ever seen us play. Everybody looked comfortable on the ball, even the subs. It was “pass and move“ football of the highest order. 🙌 👏 (y)
 
I read on here that Carrick and Woodgate are always encouraging the players to enjoy the ball in training and it is paying dividends in our style of play.
 
I had the same thoughts about the Brighton game coming away this evening. At the time I was afraid it might demoralise the team but it has done the opposite. They seem to have learned a lot from the way Brighton played.
 
Just watched Brighton take West Ham apart on the Match of the Day repeat.

When they get in their groove they're so good. No shame in losing to them and I'd say that defeat improved us. They did us a favour bringing their A game. If we go up I think that match should be seen as every bit as important as the league games we got our points from.
