I am not even sure they believe him but worse they don't actually care anyhow - he isn't hurting them ( so they mistakenly believe) - these people as long as they have a nice pension to keep them comfortable and they can live their lives without fear and interruption and have no social conscience whatsoever then they will continue to think that way.
Exactly this ^^
There is also this common misconception where people believe ‘there is nothing I can do anyway’ and ’its not affecting me at the moment anyway‘ so they think the best way forward is to just get on with it and ignore it.
They seem to think a few pence rise on stuff here and there isn’t harming them, without considering the wider implications both socially and economically, that really are harming them.
They genuinely can’t understand what so many people are getting so angry about.
They don’t understand at all. They think it’s all a load of fuss over nothing and ridiculously, some think it’s some sort of tribal politics thing, treating it like following a football team ‘oh it’s just a bunch of moaning lefty Labour fans…they are just angry because they lost’. Would be funny if it wasn’t so utterly preposterous.
Then you have the group who find it so stressful to see what’s going on, that they’d rather just not know, wrongly believing that the ‘ignorance is bliss’ approach will serve them best, heads firmly buried in the sand, ignoring the news. Some do so simply because life is hard enough without seeing the news that just makes their mental health suffer.
Then there is a group who have just become so numb to it all, they've stopped caring about anything.
Then there is the group who have fallen down the rabbit hole and believe much of it is fake news.
You see it on here all the time, good, decent folk completely and utterly oblivious to how their lives are being drastically impacted by this Government and the current state of affairs.
It’s not entirely their fault, as it‘s by design and the crime is perpetrated with the help of the shills and the media and their ‘look over there!’ messages and division sowing. They are pitting workers against workers (see rail strikes for example in action) and creating new bogey men yearly to funnel anger towards the victims (benefits claimants, immigrants, protestors etc) and away from the real corporate criminals causing untold damage to everyone and everything.
And because of all of the above most have no idea about their rights and opportunities and freedoms and money being stripped from them and likely won’t until it’s too late.
It’s both completely bewildering and supremely frustrating.
Still, we’ll always have the Boro to distract us and give us something to hope for…..before ultimately kicking us in the chops when we are down.
Roll on next season!
