We all pull together.
If we desend to the gutter by playing the racists game of divide and rule - they will have achieved their objective [tonight].
Racists and their foot fodder have no place in our club.
Booing the knee is an insult to every Boro player and the vast majority of decent civilised intelligent Boro fans.

Two entirely unrelated things.
Our team were brilliant and we are all rightly proud of them.
The fact that some cretins in our fanbase don't like the idea that black people should be considered as equal has got nothing to do with the way we should feel about how Boro performed today.

We as a club should respect the wishes of others to make the statement if they want to. To boo something like that shows our club in a bad light. That I can’t abide.
Whatever your intentions when booing the ‘taking of the knee’, whether it be that you disagree with it as a hollow gesture or are an abhorrent racist is immaterial in as much as your actions are will be conceived as racist. So.. if this is your intention then and you are racist then I hope you either change your ways or **** off somewhere else or if your not then you should really think about who you’re effectively lending your voice to.

Did any of you offended people actually confront people booing and express your outrage? Or are you specifically looking for a dark cloud in what was otherwise a splendid performance?

Do any racists attend Boro matches and hate Akpom, Jones, Dijksteel or Steffen? I dont think so.
I think some of your racist call are actually totally unfounded and as far as I know, the club isnt calling out a certain section of fans. Boro are probably the least racist fans in the country.

I certainly dont go to stand in a cesspit of racist vomit.
I dont imagine our black and ethnic players do either.
Neither do any of the other players, the Manager or the staff.

Yep.. there was a bloke.. late 50’s 2 rows back from me. Typical thick as sh1t type. Heard him boo so I turned around and told him to shut up… got a glare back but he couldn’t say a thing back to me.

I think most of us go to support our team.. not to listen to utter morons get upset at a team of professional sportsmen and role models showing a gesture against racism.

Now if you wouldn’t mind answering one of mine.

I’ve seen people post on here say that when people boo a gesture against racism, they’re not being racist… in that case could you explain why you think they are booing? Remember it’s a simple gesture against racism.

The obvious answer to this is: a young black man who was our club skipper at the time persuaded his team mates to stop because it didn’t work for him. That made a lot of middle class middle aged white blokes on here, myself include, a bit uneasy at the optics it showed in the national media. But they’ve largely stuck with that since he left. Presumably as a matter of choice. It’s hardly a “so what”.

I mean, we could change back. But what message does that send? To say now that uppity black fellow’s gone now we should do what us old white blokes always thought they should do to show how much we care about racism? Not sure that’s a good look either.

Yeah very well put. I wasn’t trying to dismiss our own obligations as a club to support this.. it was more a throwaway statement having seen yet another pathetic attempt to justify why people think the booing was acceptable.
