Bola

Bola clearly needs an arm around him approach. Couldn't get in the Blackpool team when he went back on loan, then was one of our most reliable and consistent performers until the fa case and injury.
I wasn't keen on him at all and then became one of my favorite players. When he's in form he's a very good defender especially on the far post where we often concede.
 
Seemed to thrive under Warnock's man to man system. When he is given slightly more complex tactical instruction he gets a bit lost. Lacked intensity out of possession when came back into the team under wilder when tracking back, then jumping out of tackles was never going to go down well.

Agree with other posters that he could make a good cover LCB option, but thinks he has screwed himself with Wilder back end of the season.
 
He just doesn’t fit this system, real shame because he looked great in spells but Giles is a significant upgrade so doubt he would have got much game time. Expect we will get a decent fee for him at least
 
Looks like he is a 'formations fashion victim'. The goal he scored at Craven Cottage was wing-back enough for me.

It probably means we will still need another LB if we are talking 2 players for each position. How much does it cost to sign a back up LB? Probably more than we will get for Bola. Who's probably not much better.

He was clearly one of the ones that Wilder commented about commitment and a will to win games at all costs. He seemed to spend a lot of time shouting at him.

It always seemed a bit odd to me how Taylor kinda got bombed out for the final 6-8 games. I thought he'd done pretty well.

Taylor combined well with McNair and Tav down the left-side and was solid defensively but my frustration with him was that he didn't contribute in terms of assists. He'd have opportunities to whip the ball into the box first time and instead would take a touch and see what was around him.

I remember Bola replaced him 2nd half vs Fulham and he looked excellent going forward. At the time I felt he was really going to kick on but for some reason when he was given a run in the team he struggled.

It's strange. You wouldn't think it would be so different playing as a wing-back rather than a full-back. Bola is a good LB at this level but just can't seem to be effective playing LWB.

Maybe in hindsight we'd have been better off offering Taylor an extra year, as there's been talk for a while now about Wilder seemingly not fancying Bola.
 
I think he's young enough with the energy and has a decent left foot on him. Likes to get in the area and have a pop at goal.

He'd be decent backup for Giles.
 
More than happy with him as backup, but definitely better suited to fullback in a back four.

As for a replacement, I'd go for Nicky Cadden at Forest Green.
