Bola and Tav

I felt for Tav when he booted the ball against the advertising board and the Huddersfield fans were chanting "He's gonna cry in a minute". A day to forget certainly.

I thought Bola was going to see red for his lunge late on like. Least they're showing they care and frustrated I guess.

I would’ve put money on Bola being sent off if I could have got internet in the stadium…

From what I could lip read on Sky, Bola said “Sol’s gone off” so it seemed that Tav was having a dig at Bola for being out of position. Tav didn’t realise Bamba had gone off and that Bola had moved left of the 3 and he was supposed to be wing back
I wondered why it looked like a 433 at first then went back to 352

That’s mental if true, amateur at best

While they were having their little spat, they both forgot we were losing and someone needed to take a throw in. I was fuming with the pair of them wasting precious time.

I noticed that, for a good few minutes after Bamba went off, McNair & Howson were absolutely screaming at the sidelines and asking what the shape was now. Didn't seem like that sub had been spoken about at all, and left us clueless at the back for a while.

I don't think anyone was sure who was meant to be where and it's no surprise there ended up being a mix up and a disagreement. The sub made sense but I think half the team (including Tav) thought they were going to 4 at the back and the other half thought Bola was dropping into the back 3. If I was Tav and it wasn't communicated how we were lining up, I probably would have been annoyed at Bola as well.

You'd have thought they'd have prepared for something like that happening though. You can't drop that kind of sub on a team without some kind of preparation for it happening, McNair isn't comfortable in the centre of a three and Bola isn't comfortable at centre back. And they played like they were being thrown completely out of position. The second goal came about as there was noone on capable of organising the defense and Bola ended up drifting deep and played Rhodes on. With Bamba and McNair that would never have happened.

sorry but Bamba had an absolute “mare today - he had to be hooked otherwise he’d have been sent off , he was all over the place. So I can’t see how he’d have helped in any way organising , as he’d been the main culprit until then.
sorry to have to post this , I think he’s a great guy, but 2 games in 3 days at his age was always going to be a big ask.

He didn't have a great game. But without him we were left with noone to organise the defense and a team full of players who had no idea where they were meant to be playing. Neither McNair, Dijksteel or Bola are very vocal, and neither of them were playing where they like to play. And Daniels doesn't seem great at organising the defence for that matter either. To single out Bamba for being "all over the place" when the entire defence were all over the place all afternoon is a little unfair.

Either way, my point isn't that Bamba needed to stay on. It's that being in a big game like this and not having the side drilled for plan B is rediculous. Without Hall on the bench there was always a chance that we'd be going to a back three of Bola, McNair and Dijksteel, yet the three of them seemed to have no idea where either of them were meant to be. How were they not prepared for that situation?

Sorry I think you miss the point - Bamba was in grave danger of being sent off & was therefore an absolute liability.
which shows the lack of squad depth, which I believe is the gist of your post

I get that point completely. The problem is, when we have Fry out, Hall not on the bench for whatever reason and Bamba is having to play from the start for the first time in ages, why would we not be prepared for the potential of going to a back three of McNair, Bola and Dijksteel.

We had two games where Bamba may have had to come off for a number of reasons, yet there was no preparation for that potential change? I genuinely can't understand why the whole side seemed completely unprepared for it, unless it's something they'd never even done in training - in which case I'm even more perplexed as it's one of the most likely changes we'd have had to make in the last two games.

Of course it's not true, of course he's realised who's gone off
Of course he did. I'm not sure he realised that Bola had dropped into centre back though as the argument was right in front of me and it did seem to be over Tav thinking that Bola was out of position and Bola telling Tav that it was Tavs ball to deal with.

I'd agree it was an argument about dealing with the situation, but I didn't really think it stemmed from not understanding their positions
