Bobby Scaife

looking for the race on youtube - i came across this for the 1972 cup - no sign of the apprentice race - however!

go to 18:50 - and there is the most amazing footage of the boro v man u 0-3 - with charlton law and best - Hickton , Mills & Boam - Ayresome is rammed - i was in the chicken run that afternoon - and george best is top notch.

Wonderful footage, though some suspect goalkeeping by Platt?!

Had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago when my younger brother introduced me to him

As a youngster at the Boro, he was the fastest youth/reserve team player & so represented the Boro against a number of other teams fastest players & won a race around wembley before the FAC final, with other teams fastest player, either 1972 or 74

Bobby Scaife wearing a Boro top & winning at wembley, all these years later we're still waiting to win at wembley

Unfortunately he never made a 1st team appearence & left the Boro, against big Jacks wishes

Had the pleasure of playing alongside Bob at Blyth Spartans mid 80's....he made me look a lot better than I actually was

Think Peter Brine was decent player, and if I remember correctly was starting to become a first choice remember him playing really well against Arsenal. However, but did he not get a bad injury that stopped his career as it was getting going? (It is possible I have imagined all this lol)
He,s a blast from the past, nice one.... Bit like Peter brine, a. Nearly man

Thats correct, scored after 20 seconds in a night match at home to Arsenal in a 3-0 win, 4 days before we beat Arsenal 4-1 in the 1977 FAC

Played his final final away game in the same game as Willie Maddrens final game too, another players career finished early through injury

Made his full debut in the same game as Souness's Boro debut

I liked PB, speak to him regularly on FB, met him at a former players reunion too

Lovely bloke
