Bloke trying to make money out of Cleveland police

Basically purposefully trying to get into this exact situation to take the police to court, looks like a copycat of the below case:

Fuel fiasco over £100 coin ends in police payout

Brett Chamberlain was taken into custody after petrol station staff refused the payment despite the supermarket's head office confirming that they do in fact accept the coin

Personally can't stand videos like this even if they are in the right because it wouldn't come up in real life, just manufactured cases like this.

It's those commemorative ones basically. They are legal tender but no-one ever actually uses them, but. Is they're being used for this. You either get cheap petrol if they take it as you've bought the coin at a discount, or you get to waste police time and take them to court and get a payout on wrongful arrest.

Tesco still doesn't understand legal tender. You're not required to accept legal tender as payment. If it is proferred in settlement of a debt, however, then you can't both refuse it and sue for payment. I suspect this is why the guy is using petrol stations as his retailer of choice as the incomplete 'transaction' is hard to undo. (Legal tender Bank of England)

Yes it is because the product has already been dispensed. Don't think it would work in a shop

Depends if you think it's worth making a potential £20, or if £2k is worth the amount of times you must have to wait around for an hour and go down the station etc

Bizarre that someone would waste at least two hours arguing plus a night in the cells for the sake of just paying with a card/cash. Clearly knew what was going to happen which is why it was recorded.
Must be better ways to spend a day

The long goal is to get arrested hence not offering ID or info etc, and then to sue for wrongful arrest. They've not thought it up on their own, they've lifted it directly from that other article basically and in the comments already talking about serving court papers.
