Driving past the grassy area near Billingham Cowbridge beck (between Rievaulx and High grange Ave) at the weekend. I asked the wife if she remembered all the playground equipment that used to be stored there in the late 70's (and maybe early 80's). Stuff like metal climbing frames and slides. She reckons there was never such a thing in that area or in Billingham. Can anyone remember / have details, I am sure I am not imagining it.

Council stored playground equipment in it's depot on Cowpen Lane in the 70s, I don't remember seeing any in Marsh House Ave

It was behind Braemar Road, if I remember rightly, further up than the grassy bit. The council parks department had a depot there.

My mates from college picked up summer jobs and had to report there, that was mid 70s.

The council gardening section used to be at the top of Braemar Road below the old A19 route through Billingham. The grassy banked area adjacent to it was a top spot for sledging .

My Mrs remembers Mr Clark from the council bringing all the netball and shinty stuff to the pitches between The Telstar and Rievaulx in his van every summer holidays (we’re talking early to mid 60s here !!!)
