Away to Oxford wearing the No4 shirt, standing in for IMHO, the best player to wear a Boro shirt, Graeme Souness, who is serving the final of his 2 game suspension, following his sending off away to Carlisle end of October

The mighty Boro won their 5th away game of the season with a 2-0 win with goals coming from Alan Foggon his 5th goal of the season & Bobby Murdoch his 3rd of the season

Billy Gates played 328 games between 1961 & 1974, scoring 12 goals & IIRC a broken jaw courtesy of Brian Kidds elbow

Bill Gates was to be named as sub for his final time later on in the season

Near enough, he must have had one of the best testimonials ever.
He is also trained as an accountant while playing football. He was extremely smart and organised. If you read the post by Picto Lang and Bill's wife's accounts about why he had to retire at 30 and how he has suffered since then he surely deserved every penny he earned from that game.
