Bikes on roads with Cars at 70MPH should be banned

Would cyclists behave in that way if there had their own dedicated roads and not just a white line to protect them?

I find that attitude selfish and you can't tar every cyclist due to the behaviour of the minority, It is like saying all drivers are crap due to my experience of being cut up by car drivers in the capital. Surely it is better for everyone if the government(s) and local authorities spent wisely and put the correct infrastructure in place.
It's the majority in London sadly. that attitude is very bad.

It's not though, but I'm not even going to argue with little Tory as it's futile - he's never wrong.
"Little Tory" Good god. When you start parroting Same as before's paranoid rambling then you know you're in trouble.

Is it not the majority in London? Am I imagining all those red light jumpers?

I have no idea who called you it, but thought it was a good description of you.

No you're not imagining the red light jumpers, but you are ignoring all the lawful cyclists because it fits your imagined narrative.

No idea: yeah I bet. Still align yourself with that crackpot and see how well it suits you. I personally find that kind of petty name calling unnecessary and puerile but hey, if it's your style.

Yeah I do see cyclists not breaking the law. Granted but I'm not sure I'm supposed to be grateful for that? I don't know any other activity where you're supposed to be happy that a minority of people don't break the law. Cycling is strange to me in that I don't see any other pastime were people get angry, and really rage inducing, offensively angry, because you suggest they shouldn't be breaking the law.

It helps back up my experience of cyclists being arrogant, self centred and completely oblivious of the rest of the world. I just find it bizarre man.

I don't often agree with what blot says but I can see where he's coming from. He's clearly not a nutcase and he takes a lot of you to the cleaners every time.

Brilliant!

Thats fine mate. You continue to get angry about me saying cyclists break the law. It doesn't stop it being true

I wouldn't ride on the A689 by choice, but it's a bit unavoidable in places.

Plenty of room there to make a cycle lane too, and it shouldn't be a 70mph road for areas where there are no cycle lanes, not many A-Roads/ dual carriageways should be.

Don't get me started on the Country lanes being 60mph and Motorway's being 70mph, it's ludicrous. Most country lanes should be 40, maybe 50 at best, if visibility is good, and most motorways could be 90mph at off peak times.

A quicker way to solve some problems, is for the local council to take ownership of some of the farm tracks, or compulsory purchase thin strips of land to make cycling short cuts, which would not suit creating roads.

We should be doing all we can to promote safe roads for cycling now, especially with E-Bikes really progressing. Whilst we're at it, up the speed limiter on those to 20-25mph too, and it would get far more people commuting by bike, and much cheaper, a lot greener and as quick as a car.

Had a similar Road to Damascus (well, Rotterdam) moment cycling on holiday in the Netherlands. Just gobsmacked by how good it is for cyclists there and no sense that it had been achieved at the expense of cars. Helps that over there a far higher proportion of drivers are also cyclist, like.
Here in Lanzarote we have much safer roads, most have dedicated cycle lanes. In a nearby village (Playa Honda) there’s a dedicated cycle track and where they run out of space for it the cycle lane is marked down the middle of the street!! Thus giving priority to cyclists. Also apart from the main dual carriageway down the middle of the island most roads are dedicated ‘via cyclista’ giving priority to cyclists - and it works.

I don't cycle but some of infrastructure cyclists are expected to use is barely safe if you are going faster than a brisk walk.

A route close to me I pass regularly is full of random bollards, has road signs in the way, has people/ dogs walking across them, potholes, constant ongoing works. Nobody could use it to commute as you are constantly trying to avoid injuring yourself. This forces cyclists onto roads.

Awful planning.
