One of the few businesses that can stay open during the current restrictions. So therefore it must be OK to travel ad drive to them?
Of course it is as long as you don't take the **** i.e me going from Saltburn to Bike Scene in Guisborough or Peddlars in Redcar is but I wouldn't go to Keswick bikes as an excuse for a nip over to the lakes. One of the few businesses that can stay open during the current restrictions. I agree, but the irony is, the net result is likely to be identical if you’re as careful as you’re meant to be.Of course it is as long as you don't take the **** i.e me going from Saltburn to Bike Scene in Guisborough or Peddlars in Redcar is but I wouldn't go to Keswick bikes as an excuse for a nip over to the lakes.
Talking of which, what was the name of the bike shop on Barnabas rd in the 70s? Spent all my paper round money in there, cow horns monkey hangers etc.Elderley lady worked there in a housecoat, really knew her way around a set of spanners.
Ken Stubbs, not sure if that was it?Ken Stubbs ?
The best bike shop ever was Colin Armstrong's on Princess Road (directly opposite Guidos) - what I'd give to go back there now with a bit of cash in my pocket rather than the cash strapped teenager I was when I used to spend hours in there back in the late 80's & early 90's.
It was Henry's- I used it a fair bit. Her brother also had a bike shop called Henry's- corner of Aske Rd + Princes Rd. He was possibly the biggest misery I've ever encountered in my lifeKen Stubbs, not sure if that was it?
It sold only parts not bikes. In a room with only a counter and loads of random parts.Would have loved a chopper, too pricey, ended up with a Montana racing bike from Romer Parish, soon customised it with cow
Horn handle bars grips and tassels, parents were horrified.
Does the bike shop sell a product or service you can’t get any closer?Yes, Colin Armstrongs was a great shop and I used to walk there on my lunch breaks when I worked in the town Ken Stubbs built some wheels for my bike which I still have must be 30 years old now.
The bike shop I want to visit is in Richmond I live in boro but I can't bring myself to go.
That was it thanks ! I thought it was a family concern. It was Henry's- I used it a fair bit. Her brother also had a bike shop called Henry's- corner of Aske Rd + Princes Rd. He was possibly the biggest misery I've ever encountered in my life
That and all the other stores where you were the equivalent of the boy with his nose frozen to the window.Ken Stubbs ?
