Biggest bargain in football history

Hardly the greatest player ever, but surely in terms of how ridiculous the whole circumstances were, it was Paul Pogba going to Juve from ManU for sweet Fanny Adams. He ripped Serie A up didn't he? Before Juve hilariously sold him back to ManU 4 years later for an eye-watering 105M, which means they actually in a way paid the Red Devils MINUS 105Million for having his services?

Just to complete the farce, they then got him back for sod all again years later to boot.🤣 Though appreciate by then he was hardly the same player for them!

Minus 105Mill. Beat that.😛

biased as eff of course but step forward one Teemu Eino Antero Pukki, signed on a free by Norwich and bagged 87 goals in 198 appearances for us including one horror (no) show in the Premier League. In only 5 seasons with Norwich he is our 4th ever highest scorer. Legend.

Nonsense. Throw meaningless stats at it all you want but Cantona had an influence at Man Utd that changed the mentality and drive of the team. Just being on the pitch motivated and lifted the team. No stat can show that but this will only be opinion, not fact, but if he hadn’t been banned in January 95, I bet Man Utd and not Blackburn would have won the league that year.
This is bang on.

It also meant that Utd put Leeds firmly back in the pack when going for titles.

Cantona was an absolute brilliant piece of business by Utd which was one of the reasons for their huge success under SAF.

On the subject of Blackburn, signing Shearer for £3.3M, although a fantastic amount of money at the time, must be up there as one of the best buys? Win them the league, then sold him for £15M.

Definitely not Cantona.

Obviously was a good signing but only played 5 seasons for them. Was banned for 1.

Only scored more than 20 goals (in all competitions) once.

Never got 20 league goals in a season.

Keane, Schmeichael (sp) and even Ronaldo are all better bargains than Cantona in my opinion (and that’s just at Man U).
Excellent trolling. People will genuinely think you're a complete imbecile after that.

Danny Mills to Boro for £1.5m.

Or at least he'd said it would have been had we not messed him about.

All these bargains and yet everyone we buy is an overpriced Shiitehawk who isn’t fit to wear the shirt.

Or summat.

£100k for George Friend in these times must be up there for games played and impact, pennies in football terms but an actual fee for an experienced player, not an out of contract player or someone who came through the youth/reserves set ups.
