A big shout out to a fellow poster @bigbob who's doing the London marathon on Sunday.
He's done quite a few marathons/triathlons before but has never managed to get into the London Marathon through the ballot.
Coming up to his 50th birthday this year his wife asked him what he wanted for his 50th birthday present.
He's been after a new road bike for ages (being sick off being over taking in triathlons by slower riders on carbon bikes) and started pricing one up.
But in the end he decided the fun of competing in triathlons is not where you finish but the effort you put in.
His decision instead was to donate his birthday money to Wellchild which would guarantee him a place in the marathon - commendable effort.
