100% this. Intelligence and communication would be the two biggest I'd be looking for in a manager. A student of the game who understands it's intricacies but, crucially, can develop an innovate platform for play which maximises our strengths and limits the oppositions.Not exactly known for being a thinker. We need to move away from this view of "inspirational leader". It's 2022, there is too much to think about now in terms of how the game is played. Long gone are the days of just throwing a formation up and telling people to go and do their job.
We should be appointing someone with a bit of intelligence. Actual intelligence as well, not just intelligent for a footballer.
