Bid accepted for Daniel Barlaser

The single biggest difference between his Rotherham form and for us is the part he was asked to play.

He played in a 3-1-4-1 or 4-1-4-1,usually in the 4 behind the striker.

He can't play in a midfield 2,it exposes his inability to tackle too much.
Yet he’s won a higher percentage of tackles than Borges, Hackney and Van den Berg. It’s a funny old game.

Agree with this, he is not and never been a defensive midfielder, and yet he was asked to play there.

Hackney is similar, also very one paced when trying to defend, and cannot tackle, yet he escaped most criticism when they both played together.
In many games this pairing exposed Hackneys weaknesses more than Barlasers.

It will be interesting if we do sign Kamara, once match fit he will start, as will Morris.

That’s the thing, we aren’t going to sign Kamara to sit on the bench. And can’t see Morris or Hackney being dropped for him.

Thats whats nagging away at me. We cant be paying big money for Kamara to sit on the bench, can we? It would be strange to change formation this late on but I suppose it would give our defence a bit more protection with 3 in midfield. Barlaser would look more effective in a 3 but I dont think he would give us what we need from a third midfielder.

He will do well at derby, they sit deep, hit on the counter with plenty of long balls forward. They have other midfielders that dig in and will do Barlasers running and tackling for him.

I agree, would suit his game more, not a bad player at all, just had to be used in a different role fir used %90 of the time, will play well with a dm and runners

Don't agree re Hackney at all. What you tend to see in a tight game or where we are struggling is Hackney being the one showing for the ball and taking responsibility in terms of trying to get us going, and Dan Barlaser slowly disappearing from the game. I've seen Hackney win far more tackles than Barlaser also.

Hopefully he has success in the rest of his career though, he seems like a decent lad.
