Best Western theme music - The Big Country

It seems that from the mid 1950s to the early 1970s there was always a western series on the telly. Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, Maverick, etc.

For me the western programme I used to love the most was this, gutted to hear of Pete Duels untimely death. Can’t believe they continued filming less than a day later recasting the narrator as Hannibal Heyes, needless to say it just wasn’t the same and was rightfully shelved soon after. R.I.P Pete Duel.

I know this isn't a film but I looked forward to watching this every Thursday night. My mum would go to the Lyric bingo and dad would set the train set or Scalextric up, we would all have lemonade and ice cream and sit down and watch The High Chaparral.

Love the theme to the High Chapparal.
Back then though being a kid, I never really appreciated Linda Cristal as Big John's wife Victoria 😍

The other biggy not mentioned yet was this one, had some big stars in it going on to become household names. It is only now dawning on me that Audra Barkley evolved into Krystle Carrington in later life. How did I not realise that?

Going off on a bit of a tangent, but I've just finished a quiz I set for one of my locals and one of the questions is a "On this day in history". So, in 1959, which Western TV series premiered on NBC?
