Best team in the Championship since Wolves

In the Championship Burnley have been able to press teams to force mistakes and they can transition the ball from defence to attack really quickly. They play like a Premier league team but thats easier when you have better players than virtually every team you come up against.

I think their style could work in the top flight but they'll need better players to be to do it. Kompany has done a great job and seems like an intelligent manager so I'm sure he'll use the loan market well and they'll be stronger in the Premier league but from what I've seen of Burnley this group of players would come straight back down if they don't strengthen.

Thinking back to that Wolves team that got promoted they had players like Jota and Neves playing for them, Burnley don't have anything like that individual quality.

As a footballing team on last night’s performance not as good as Wolves. They were effective, Barnes leading the line and then playing almost as a midfielder when we had the ball was indicative of their excellent work ethic.

They were quicker in every department and overwhelmed us when we had the ball.

I didn’t think they were as good as Aston Villa when we lost to them in the playoffs under Pullis.

It’s difficult to see how they will cope in the premier league, I doubt they will be getting such “sympathetic” officials week in week.

The ref gave Boro a penalty that clearly wasn't.

I understand everyone is frustrated but Burnley didn't look great to me. They dished up a few defensive errors that Akpom wasted.

Maybe the important thing is to forget these two defeats. Clear thinking. Automatic promotion is gone, it's just the playoffs now. Make sure of finishing no lower than 4th and build some momentum for the playoffs because they will be tough.
It was a stone wall penalty, Archer was tripped up by the defender, might not have looked like it on the telly but from my view in the stadium a clear trip.

But agree with you Burnley not great, not sure what the fuss is about, I think Wolves, Norwich, Leeds, Fulham in recent seasons just as good.

You're right, it just came across on the ticker tape in the pub, they're specifically talking about the Championship.

But it's the same number of games remaining as Charlton's Champions.
Charlton's Champs was a better achievement because it was only a 42 game season.

Best team in a a very poor league this season, however Fulham were a better side, Burnley don’t have any outstanding players of their own, but are very well drilled

No way Burnley stay up next season the gaps too big, Fulham yo-yoed for a few seasons before establishing themselves this year, maybe due to keeping the majority of last years squad together.

Disagree about it being a very poor league. It's ridiculously competitive, skewed because the PL clubs are so far ahead financially.

Get rid of the parachute payments and the gap will narrow.

Burnley as it stands will come straight back down - but that team will look completely different come August. Need to recruit wisely (cliche) and then it will be a big test to see how good a manager Kompany is.

Good luck to them 👍

agreed. the days of forming a good team and taking it up are pretty much over sadly. when u go up, it depends how much your finance companies/investors want to splash, and you just buy a load of "pl" quality players. fulham spent a shedload. no idea what burnleys plans are?

I'm not seeing it, I think they are better going forward than the rest of the league though I think defensively they are poor with a very dodgy keeper... Sheff Utd will do exactly the same as they did at Bramall Lane - lots of crosses into the 6 yard box, keeper doesn't stand up to physical challenge.

They are best in the league though not as good as teams of the past - this league is competitive - though I don't think the same quality as previous seasons..

They have no standout players. We have a better front line than them. Wolves had jota, neves etc they have barnes up top, Tella is good but he’s not exceptional
