Best Boro left-back of the modern era

French Frank was some player👍. An absolute bargain of a signing.

Ziege was probably (well definitely) the best LB in Europe before his injury. That's the only reason we got him. OK that and massive wages😂. He was some player going forward.
He was definitely better than Paolo Maldini and Roberto Carlos? Not sure I remember it quite like that.

He was very good though, and fantastic for us.

Great signing by big Jack, though his 1st away game v Chelsea Jack wasn't happy at all, Coops got sent off, though Craggs scored his 1st top flight goal, Alan Willey scored his 1st away goal & we won, though we've never won at Chelsea since

Good thread actually! Although not left back neil cox was my first favourite player which the club signed at the time! Which leads me to think we have had an abundance of fullbacks over the years who could take a free kick and kick the ball harder than a John Leslie stiffy; Gordon, kinder, branca, even Alan Wright could whack a ball, an underated position which we have been blessed over the years! Talent wise Ziege surely was the best, taking into account commitment and influence in regards to the clubs history then French Frank is the indisputable winner!
