Anything else is just messing, the above team was my first love and you never, ever, forget your first true love 😍
I was going to put the sane but thought otherwise, should have now as looking at your team mate, it's far superior to mine 👍

Schwarzer - won a cup with us, played in 3 more finals, 95 top flight leansheets for Boro, all-time appearance record for Oz, record international appearances by a Boro player, played in 2 world cups..legend

Geremi - not really a right back but played there for us, and was a decent defender but superb going forward. 7 goals from RB is some return. Another with a century of caps for his country. 2 champs league medals and a La Liga title and 2 prem leagues

Southgate - He was two inches short of being the perfect CB.

Pallister - Superb career, forget the average, injury prone, bloated figure in his second spell. His first spell in the mid-late 80s was the appearance of a new kind of English CB, one who was comfortable on the ball, could come out with the ball and play a bit, not just a big bully CB

Ziege - Superb player, how many Boro players have an international hattrick to their name, let alone a non-CF? Shame he peed off to Liverpool under those circumstances, but what a player

Emerson - Had the potential to be the best box-to-box midfielder in the world. A box of tricks, built like a bricksh$*&house, rocket of a shot, superb on his day

Boateng - Probably in the top 3 out and out CDMs in premier league history

Zenden - probably our best goalscoring CM in living memory

Juninho - pointless stating why

Viduka - The best CF we have ever had

Boksic - Not as consistently good as Viduka, but still classy AF

That team, in their prime, could probably challenge for the title.

Without doubt we've had better players in certain positions but this is the best 11 I've ever seen play.

Also genuinely staggered at the number of people not including Paul Merson. The best player bar Juninho to pull on a Boro shirt in my lifetime in my opinion.

It's a tough one Merson. He was brilliant that season (aided and abetted by a very strong team for the championship). But it was the championship.

Who's to say how the likes of Boksic, Mendieta, Viduka, Ziege etc would've done at that level? I think they'd also have torn it up like Merson did. Just look how good Adam Johnson and Ramirez were at that level.

Unfortunately we'll never know how good he'd have been in the Prem for us. Started well enough before leaving, but hard to compare with the others who did it at that level for a full season or more.

Did Geremi ever play right back for us? I don't remember it.

I see he's made it into the "best ever" list of quite a few in that position; I'd agree it's a problem position. The solid but uninspired likes of Young and Mills probably are the best, though I think Nsue would be my favourite player whose played there.

If Dijksteel keeps imporving, he's in with a shout, but there's a way to go yet.

Yeah, I think like Ziege it was wing back rather than full back. Played there for other clubs though.

I think people are just shoehorning him in on that basis. Which is fair enough, he had a cracking season for us.

I think he was generally good in the home matches, and not so good away. One of the main reasons for the difference between our home and away form (37 points at home, 12 away).

I agree we've never had a great RB in my time following 'the club, but we've had some solid ones, I can't really agree with him making best 11s in that position.

If it was under Covid-19 I'd add Emerson and Hickton to the bench.
This one's interesting. there aren't many who remember the Platt era who wouldn' t find room for Maddren.
