Bellingham out for England

The currently squad without Jude is more than capable of beating the two teams we have this week.

Don't blame Southgate for not calling up additional players.
Even if the squad are more than capable, the value of giving JWP minutes is priceless, to get him integrated, to see how he does against poor opposition. Henderson is on his last days with the England squad, we need to think about the next tournament.

Gareth probably already is thinking of the next tournament.

And if you're giving JWP 'priceless minutes' when he's very unlikely going to make the Euro squad (unless for some bad injuries or a huge upturn in form), then who are you planning on leaving out the team? Gallagher? Palmer? TAA? All are more than capable of deputising for Jude and much more likely to be in the Euro's squad....so giving them the 'priceless minutes' makes much more sense.

JWP is a good player - but we certainly don't need him.

Would Palmer or Gallagher play the Henderson role? How are we gonna know if JWP can play well in a tournament if we don't play him in games like Malta?

Are you suggesting that by playing against Malta means he's good enough to play well in a tournament?

Our U19s would probably beat Malta....doesn't mean they'd do well in the Euro's!

How JWP is playing week in week out in the PL gives us a far better picture of how he will do in a tournament than playing against some waiters and plumbers from Malta.

Genuinely don't get that, the lad needs all the experience in the England squad he can get, even if he doesn't play to be around the England players, to train with them, to show him this is the level he needs to be at. The England squad will be miles different to anything he's used to. Jenas said when he played for England, the level was top class, when he went back to Newcastle he was playing with average players, which didn't make him step his game up.

Nobody is suggesting he should be starting games but we're a team who like to create chances from set pieces and there's currently nobody better at that than him. If we're finding room for players like Henderson and Phillips, there's a good case for using Ward-Prowse as a backup in case we need a late goal.

The fact he isn't taking him indicates that he has no intention of taking him to the Euros so the experience is wasted. He's 29 now and if he's not getting into the team now, it's unlikely that he ever will unless we hit a massive run of injuries.

The experience is far better being used on younger players who have the potential to become England regulars. I would rather see an England hopeful like Rico Lewis put in than Ward-Prowse. Similar to what we did with Saka, Bellingham, Rashford et al. Get those sorts of players in the set up early.

You're not comparing like with like. Henderson and Phillips aren't in there based on their ability to create chances, which they seldom do anyway.

Nobody is mentioning Southampton's defensive record with JWP in central midfield, or West Ham's ability to score from set pieces prior to JWP joining.
