This will be ultimately the downfall of Gareth Southgate and what will destroy the reputation of a thoroughly decent man in the eyes of the English public.
To not build a team around generational talents like Foden and Bellingham at a World Cup is going to be criminal. We should be destroying the majority of teams with the squad of players we have, especially in forward areas, but Southgate simply won’t take the hand break off and let them play.

Bellingham would probably get into any international side in the world for me. The only one you can argue is France with them having Pogba and Kante.
The only issue I can see with Foden is that he clearly only knows how to play how Guardiola wants to play, so clearly struggles playing for England when he has must more responsibility and needs more tactical awareness.

Gascoigne was the best player in the world from 89-92. All opinions of course but he’s the best English player I’ve ever seen.. closely followed by Rooney and Robson.
Phil Foden has everything to be the planet’s best player.

All it took was 20 years of Gazza inspired premier league football and 8 years of a Barcelona system of coaching, academy and management.

Bellingham is at his best playing as the left sided midfielder of a midfield 3 with licence to roam box to box. The problem we have is that we don’t have another natural box to box midfielder to play the other side of Rice.
Sadly though Southgate will play 343
