Belle & Sebastian

I love them.

Tigermilk is one of those rare albums where almost every track is great. Each album after that has some great instant highlights but the rest of the songs are growers you need to enjoy in the context of the album as a whole I think.

Can’t pick a favourite track. It should be The Boy With The Arab strap but I might have slightly done that to death.

My favourite thing is Stuart Murdoch’s side project, God Help The Girl, with the original vocalists rather than the film soundtrack. Catherine Ireton’s vocals are so perfect for the songs she was chosen to deliver on.

If I had to pick one favourite song it would be from God Help The Girl and it would be one that Ireton actually takes only an equal role to the other girls - A Down and Dusky Blonde.

Saw them at a really intimate gig at Water Rats Kings Cross a few years ago.

Best album for me is If You're Feeling Sinister followed by Tiger Milk.

If you’re feeling Sinister is my favourite of their albums, as for songs, I really like sleep the clock around. I remember hearing it for the first time, live at an intimate gig in Oxford. Blew me away.
