Just heard Beat Surrender to end as part of local radio reform. Sad news for me as it is my favorite radio program - except when Nick Roberts features the Beastie Boys as album of the week 😀 When it was the 30 anniversary of The Last Splash by The Breeders.

More Boro related, does BBC local radio reform also mean that we will loose BBC Tees Sport on weekday evenings? And what about commentary?
 
Its truly awful what the BBC is doing to local radio. Local radio especially in the North East is a gem. Presenters in London are getting paid over £1m a year. Over 90% of what the BBC spends with the licence fee we give them must be spent in London and Manchester. Its so unequal.
 
Terrible news and decision. Great show. Only recently discovered it. Plus another Northern Soul show on radio Sheffield, which I think is aired at the same time. Wonder if that’s going too!
 
Reduce Lineker and Zoe Balls ridiculous salaries and put the money into something value adding.
 
BBC Radio Tees probably runs in total for a similar cost of employing Gary Linekar (and he's part time).
