Was there some temporary bitterness? I would imagine there was, even if it subsided quickly (especially when things didn't work out for him at Newcastle).
Found it interesting that Graeme Souness said yesterday that he was scared of him. Souness! Not for me, TBH we were sinking so fast & big Jack arrived, I naively thought he would take us back to where he left us
I certainly didnt hold any grudges.
That's really good by Souness - love the bit about Jack's carProbably already posted but here
Not amongst the people that I knew. I think we just got on with what Boro were doing.Did anyone else though that you remember? On paper I could imagine the move getting a few backs up at the time.
Missed that bit I think. What was it?That's really good by Souness - love the bit about Jack's car
He said if you ever got a lift in his car there was always dead animals or fish in itMissed that bit I think. What was it?
ah yes, sorry I did hear that bit.He said if you ever got a lift in his car there was always dead animals or fish in it
I was meaning when he came back, as a favour, then went to the Geordies. As a 17 year old I remember standing in the Holgate & there was a chant of Jack Charlton good bye at one of last games as manager & it was just assumed we would carry on progressing as a club, which we did under John Neal I thought, so I don't think there was any bitterness towards big Jack when he decided to leave
No, I've probably got the wrong end of the stick here so apologies, but when Jack came back he said it would be for a short while & even groomed Wille Maddren to take overI was meaning when he came back, as a favour, then went to the Geordies.
