Be honest... what were the feelings towards Big Jack in June 1984?

Was there some temporary bitterness? I would imagine there was, even if it subsided quickly (especially when things didn't work out for him at Newcastle).
 
His time at other clubs was looked on with love, even the barcodes. Agent Jack was and always will be loved, we forgave his Leeds history, anything else was a piece of pish in truth. ;)
 
As a 17 year old I remember standing in the Holgate & there was a chant of Jack Charlton good bye at one of last games as manager & it was just assumed we would carry on progressing as a club, which we did under John Neal I thought, so I don't think there was any bitterness towards big Jack when he decided to leave

I was meaning when he came back, as a favour, then went to the Geordies.
 
I'm sure when he came it was around the time of the large white gazette type programme & he mentioned he's just here to help out the club & that fans shouldn't be thinking of him bringing back the glory years of his 1st stint, I could be wrong mind, oh I loved his time here
