Sickening - the more we hear about it, the more we understand.....

Kieron Dyer: Ex-England footballer 'racially abused at golf club'
Extract:
Two men have been arrested following reports former England and Newcastle midfielder Kieron Dyer was the subject of racial slurs at a Suffolk golf club.
The 41-year-old told the East Anglian Daily Times he did not hear the alleged abuse at Hintlesham Golf Club on 24 July but was informed that the words "monkey" and "banana" were used.
Police were informed on Saturday.
One of the men, in his 50s, has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.
He and another man, in his 30s, have also been arrested on suspicion of a malicious communications offence.
'Appalled'
The golf club said it would "not tolerate racial abuse" and is investigating what happened.
The retired footballer, who says he has resigned as a club member, told the East Anglian Daily Times: "I was appalled to be told of what had been said and it is clear to me there is still a long way to go in the battle against racism."
In a statement, the golf club said: "Any member found to be involved in such action will have their membership immediately terminated.
"If such action is committed by a guest at the club they will be banned from returning.
"We pride ourselves as being a friendly and welcoming club and such action is not compatible with our principles."
Mr Dyer, who started his career at Ipswich Town, played 33 times for the national football team and also had spells at West Ham, QPR and Middlesbrough.

The last few years have sadly seen a huge rise in racism across the UK. Those who previously kept their own vile thoughts to themselves now seem to feel they’ve more of a platform to air their sick views.

Its something that needs nipped in the bud and quickly. Hate breeds hate.

It's too late, it's bloomed. It was weaponised 5 years ago in the build up to the referendum.

Unfortunately i dont think the ramming of black lives matter is doing anything but devide. All lives matter for me and ten pushes of black, jewish etc could be used out of that as and when appropriate. Just dont think this thrusting it down peoples throats is the answer. Unfortunately this goverments attitude is also contributing to the situation. Like everything at the minute. Its a mess

So your answer is for people just to keep quiet?

Not thrusting it down peoples throats didn't work either, if you are subject to injustice, you have the right to call it out and argue against it. Are you suggesting they suffer in silence?

The government have weaponised racist hate for 5 years or more. They are more than contributing, they are architects of this escalation, which occurred long before the recent Floyd inspired BLM protests.

For the record, absolutely no one is claiming all lives don't matter, it is simply a slogan to highlight racial injustices that impacted the black community. The all lives matter response, is both whataboutery and an attempt to undermine fighting racism, rather than accepting and addressing that the US and this country have problems with racism.

Of course all lives matter.

But when there is a "save the children" campaign do you shout "what about the adults"?
And a campaign for "help the aged" do you scream "what about the middle aged'?

"ramming of black lives matter"

"thrusting it down peoples throats"

"this goverments attitude is also contributing to the situation"

"Like everything at the minute. Its a mess"

I am especially interested in the "everything" being a "mess"?

Your overt logic links directly: BLACK = MESS

Thats not just a racist comment, but the belief of racists, because it has consequences on the street, not only for all people of colour and white anti-racists: it means the Police are attacked in London by a mob of drunken thugs in England shirts who have turned up to "potect statues and war memorials" - it means daily attacks on black people and people of colour going about their daily business.
It justify`s descrimination and denigration of one race by another.
Denial leads to offensive, abusive behaviours from those who then high-jack the flag of my country and start calling themselves "patriots".
No.

Thanks Roofie (y)
We are struggling to get the anti racist message out to some people and they use BLM as a weapon against us.
We have to try harder to help them understand
But
Also have to recognise lots of people are just, when it boils down to it, racist.
At least we can identify them better now.

I accept that not all people who make racist comments are racists.
Some dont even realise why they use certain words or have stopped to even think about what they are saying.
But we all have a responsibility to do something about that.

Racists deliberately weaponise "Black" and "White" to attribute blame for political, Social and Economic issues to another race. It is a classic card of power elites to detract from much broader issues in society. Divide and rule.

How ironic that on the day World War 1 was declared, we have the rise of far right nationalism and racism across Europe and the World.
We have to learn from our history and make sure the racists and their apparatchicks dont gain a foothold.

The Jews, Trades Unionists, Irish, English and socialists fought the British Union of Fascists at Cable Street. We fought the National Front in the 70`s. Racism needs to be confronted at every turn and corner. Its about educating, adjitating and organising enmasse to defeat the racists and their fellow travellers.

It was my 4 year old daughter's birthday yesterday, I told her all birthdays matter and to stop making a fuss.

I think we need to recognise that there are different types of racist as well, rather than gung ho attack everyone. There are certainly those overt racists that are hate filled, full of bile and pushing to recruit through fake messages. They deserve to be called out for what they are.

There are also those that are stirred up my media and social imagery into a fear of black people. On a one to one level they will be perfectly respectful to someone of a non-white ethnicity, but conceptually have fear about the change brought about through racial equality. A fear of change, stirred by lies and propoganda from the far right. These people can be saved, they're misguided rather than despicable, they're ignorant rather than hateful.

We have to find ways to make these people realise that black people are not the ones that are a threat to them, it's the libertarian, corporate elites and their drive for more money and power, fewer taxes and social systems. These are the people that need to understand my enemies enemy is my friend and the common enemy is the corrupt, tax avoiding, free market elite that see us all as either a burden to be discarded or a resource to be exploited for their gain.

Further than that BoroMart we have to distinguish between implicit racial bias and racism, they are not at all the same thing, and shouting RACIST at anyone showing implicit racial bias is self-defeating, it will naturally cause them to take sides and be defensive.

Implicit racial bias is just another example of implicit bias in general and implicit bias affects everyone regardless of colour. Confirmation bias is another example and there's more than a few posters on this page that have a bad case of it.
