Did anyone else see this. It was the bbc America correspondent who presented so she knows America and how it thinks but even she was shocked by the sheer devotion the zealots still have for their leader.

We could have a similar nightmare here in 4 months with right wing tories wanting the disgraced for PM johnson back

Johnson was elected on the mantra of 'Get Brexit Done' and that ship has sailed, he has no new rabbits to pull out of the hat which now makes him unelectable.

Trump was elected by frothing American racists before common sense prevailed. He could be elected again if the racists outnumber the decent folk in the good old US of A.

There's many who still think he's the messiah

There is no doubt that, for whatever reason, he has a devoted following among a certain demographic. However the GOP has, rather like our Tories, always been a much broader church than that. Remember that they were historically the more "liberal" of the two parties in the US system. So, the question is how many of the people who habitually vote Republican would either switch votes or stay at home were Trump to be on the ticket in '24?

I'm not sure that he would be able to get the vote out. Sufficient people within the GOP were utterly horrified at the events of Jan6th that I think it is quite likely that a significant percentage would abstain at best. The question that the Democrats need to consider is whether attempting to put "The Donald" in chokey (if it were to fail) would not further feed the paranoia that the Trump camp uses to validate its stance.

He has to face trial for one if not all of his many crimes, regardless of how it feeds the paranoia of his base.

I only saw the bits from Wyoming in the last 15 mins, but goodness me.

How can you ever get through to people who view actual, real events on record in a federal government enquiry as mere opinions?

I'd love to put together a deepfake of Biden speaking Trump's words and watch them dismiss him out of hand.

Never underestimate the sheer stupidity of the USA majority.
They have been blessed with an abundance of natural resources, without that they'd be a 3rd world country

I genuinely think there is a strong possibility Donald Trump will be back in the Oval Office come 2024.
Ukraine will be stuffed if he is.... & European nations will need to increase their defence capability - Germany esp - as Putin / Russia will be on the empire building trail again.. NATO won't stop him as Trump won't get involved..
