Tough to come into a pivotal role in mf like that and he did struggle to get into the game but he def grew into it and looked a lot more settled in the second half.

But no doubting his quality.

Agree but think we can see now why he wasnt thrown in straight away which you and @Caesium137 wanted. Think Howson and Hackney have a fantastic partnership. Barlaser real chance to stake his claim will be when Howson gets his 10th yellow. I think Howson will be back in next week

Btw I never wanted him thrown in straight away, but I thought he would be.

He played a bit like he was playing in a 3 man midfield in the first half but he wasn’t it was a 2 man midfield so needed to get about the pitch a bit more. I’m sure that will come when he settles down, showed his quality with the cross and a couple of other pieces of play
 
Just thought he was trying too hard in the first half by trying to play a killer through ball every time he got it but he calmed down in the 2nd and attempted things at the right time instead of every time. Don't have a problem with players taking risks like that and he'll get assists with that attitude.
 
I think that he had a quiet game, but Hackney didn’t have a good one either. It worked out ok making the 3 changes and I am glad that Howson will be able to start at West Brom.
 
Grew into the game, as did Ramsey, understandably given it was their full debuts. Good technical player, will be an excellent addition imho.

Great signing , we have the centre of the pitch boxed off, but i would not say he is like for like with Howson

We still looked more defensively solid though when Howson came on - Howsons defensive positioning is excellent

Barlaser and Hackney are very similiar i.e deep lying playmakers

We said this today. Good player but definitely not a direct stand in for Howson

gary oneill wasnt good at anything. barlaser can actually pick a pass. i thought he looks a bit slow. hackney looks a better more mobile player. though he dies have an eye for a pass so maybe become a good player for us. deffo not a howson like for like. no way is he a replacement for him. totally different players.
 
Looked a bit soft for my liking during the 1st half but he grew into the game and great for him to get the assist for the 1st goal.

I liked that after the game he said the main reason why he joined Boro was because we play good football and that's what he's about.
 
Was quite noticeable straight away in the first half that he doesn’t have the defensive nous that Howson seems to have, not physical and not one to challenge for headers.

Looked more comfortable in the second half, his delivery from open play is great and I’m sure his set pieces will improve given his record at Rotherham.

Reminds me a lot of the Forshaw signing under Karanka.

Gary O’Neil was an awful
Player that just run around a lot.
