Barlaser, Engel, VDB

Engel being truly dreadful at the beginning of his Boro career has lead somewhat to an inflated opinion of his current form.

Almost every goal we concede comes down that flank (I know there are tactical reasons for this also) but he gets the very basics of defending wrong numerous times a game. Can't fault the lads work ethic or attitude, I'd love it to work out for him here, but he needs to improve dramatically.

I would say his current form hasn't been much better than the start of the season. He's been terrible in the last 3 matches. His Millwall performance was as bad as the Sheff Wed performance.

The three being singled out were some of the better performers during our decent spell, which hopefully will resume now that we're concentrating on the league.

Once we've got a decent six or seven in the squad for the front four positions we'll settle down again.

I don't know why they've been singled out from the other night, there were awful performances across the park, including from those we expect a 7/10 every game.

I've been converted on Engel I must admit, developing into a useful defender at our level.

However his pass (to no one) for the sixth goal is common. He often passes to a mystery player infield - but we get away with it. He must do it at least every other game. Needs to sharpen up quickly on that front.

I think RV B will be a good consistent centre half at. Championship level and hopefully with more time Premier league. Very harsh to judge someone so young in a new country against a multi million forward line playing in an unfamiliar role.
Engel is often our most attacking player on the left and is exactly what it says on the tin. A rugged no nonsense full back who generally holds his own in this leauge. Never seen a player so easily dismissed as a donkey after his debut, lauded after a string of strong performances in the league then quickly thrown back as garbage.
Barlaser is what he is, a back up midfielder playing more regularly due to an injury crisis. Every club needs blokes content to be on the bench and when we have anything like a fit squad that will be his role.

Underselling RVB I think a bit there mate, I think he could be a real class act, above our pay grade.

Barlaser has impressed me more and more recently, however I would agree and I would be disappointed if he is seen as first choice CM long term.

Bloody hell do you have a job in PR at the club. Just accept its a message board people will have their own opinions on players. Also nobody expected us to give Chelsea a football lesson, so stop with the ridiculous statements and childish insults.
No, I fully accept this is a message board and we all have our opinions. I gave mine on yours, that I find to be wrong, a view shared by many other people here, looking at the responses.
And, if you are going to have go at me, get it right and read what I said:
'Anybody who honestly believed that we were going to go there and not get a footballing lesson really needs to give their head a shake' is what I wrote, not that we would give them a footballing lesson. Misreading something then having a pop about it while getting it totally wrong is what I would call ridiculous.
Perhaps that's the problem, you half read something, or only see half of what somebody does on the field, go off half cooked and spout total garbage.
And, as for childish insults, it's all I know...
