Bands you heard of, never listened to, then blew your mind when you did

We all have them. Orbit Culture, only listened because they were announced as support of next year's Trivium show. WOW

They're like every band I love rolled into one

Queens of the Stone Age , it was bit more like my mate used to listen to them obsessively and I just closed down to their music because I was tired of listening to them but as a tribute to him( he is gone) I made my mind up to get a ticket and see them in Cardiff last year, they were brilliant, I left the venue wanting more, I might get to try and see them again this year if possible.

Bought this album by Argent after seeing them play Sweet Mary on Disco 2 (I think). Played it once them put it away. About 6 months later they were plaing thr Redcar Jazz Club so dug the album out to see if they were worth going to see. It blew me away and still does. They were stunning live as well.

Mammoth WvH (Wolfgang van Halen) - having seen them supporting Slash & Myles Kennedy.

Also, Rival Sons. They’re excellent. I had never paid them much attention, for no reason, until recently. Really enjoying their albums now though.

Are you scandavian? I really can not see the fascination in repetitive angrily played instruments with somebody growling instead of singing.

I'm not but what I absolutely love about them is they're unapologetically heavy. They're fantastic musicians and I think the vocalist is quality, he can also sing.

Years ago went into a bar in Lexington Kentucky. The band was playing a combination of Southern swamp funk with a Reggae vibe going on. Brilliant band…never knew their name. But still remember them years later.

Love Rival Sons yet I've never known another human who knows or likes them. Me and my mates go to quite a few gigs and they've never heard of them.

My Mrs was going to see Linkin Park with her friends in Manchester. I had nowt on so had a look what other gigs and randomly went to see a band called Tokyo Police Club. They were brilliant and I became a big fan. Unfortunately as they're from Canada and don't have a big following I've never gotten to see them again and just heard they are splitting up. Have a listen to this.

Another Rivals fan!
First saw these guys supporting Sabbath at the Dome and blown away by Jay’s voice. Have seen them about another 5 or 6 times, including a guest only gig in front of a couple of hundred people in Sweden (wangled us onto the guest list).
Having said all that, the new album is a bit weak, especially considering how good Feral Roots was.

It doesn't matter whether you can see the fascination or not. It is about what the poster thinks
Currently going through a phase of discovering all of Micheal Heads back catalogue. Was aware of a few Shack songs but not much more.

Absolutely loving it all. A proper genius
Love all of his stuff but The Pale Fountains first album Pacific Street stands out for me. Whole album here.

Had a listen, not bad at all. Reminds me of The Strokes.

Can’t agree more with initial comment, posters were asked about their opinion, that was the idea, not to pull the p1ss out of other people’s favourite music. I love posts like this, a chance to maybe discover something new!
