Bad day at the office

I’ve been off the drink for over a week now.

I normally WFH. One day in the office today and my first port of call before going home was the off licence.

As much as I’d love to bad mouth my employer and some of the arrogant useless managers I work for on social media it’s not a good idea.

Anyone know where there’s a job going?

Sorry mate. Hope things pick up.

Are you WFH tomorrow or back in the office?

It is easy for people to say just ignore them but when you are in that situation it is hard to do. At least if you are at home you don't have to be nice to their faces.

At home Norman. Im worn out by it.
Thankfully off Friday so I can have a long weekend involving watching a certain football team on Saturday afternoon.

That's good to hear. You need to knock that computer off early tomorrow and extend your weekend.

Have a safe journey coming up.

Write it off mate, tommorow is another day.
It gets really stressful at times but I try not to let it get to me

Just to round my sh1tty day off I’ve got an email from my manager asking me to write a paragraph for the dept “social newsletter”

“Sorry I can’t come to the Xmas do on Friday night I’ve decided I’d rather spend three hours driving up north to go and watch my football team and go and get pi33ed with some people who could actually give two sh1ts about me unlike a boring meal out with my colleagues who take me for granted and who I despise with a passion”

Did you actually send it?
I wish I could have written a decline like that.

Ha ha - I wish.

I’m in a private WhatsApp conversation with a lad in my team about events today. What I posted above was a cut down, anonymised version of a sarcastic text I sent him.

Let’s hope the app doesn’t go down and come back up again, like Bog Job Boris’s did otherwise my jobs on the line isn’t it.

Sorry to read you've had a bad day. But I do enjoy your deliciously venomous reply.

Tomorrow is another, sadly wherever you go it is likely that your life will be plagued by the incompetent, the ignorant and the downright stupid. Hopefully Boro can at least lighten your load.

Safe journeys in every sense fella

To echo Grumpy's advice above, this too shall pass. When I was going through a rough time a few years ago, a kind lady (from Teesside, obv) said it to me and it always stuck with me. Keep on keeping on mate.

We've all written emails like that and deleted them before sending them. It makes you feel better at the time.

Are you trying to give up drinking?

If so, just put it behind you and start again tomorrow.

I tried so many times before it stuck.

Not completely no.

Just disappointed that my reaction to sitting in an office all day listening to a load of people moaning at me and a manager giving me daggers for something that wasn’t my fault was to hit the bottle.

If that makes sense.
