I don't think she ever said one way or another.

Great player for us at this level, but his injury problems were getting worse.

Sounds like we offered him a decent deal but one that took his injury history into account. He wasn't happy about it.

Blackburn offered him a better deal, presumably more high risk for them though. No way they're getting anything like value for money out of him.

A rare one that the club seems to have got spot on.

Does feel like he and his agent knew he couldn't rely on his body holding it together consistently anymore so we're looking for some mugs to offer him a final contract to spend half the time on the treatment table. Unlucky Blackburn.

To be fair he’s started 15 of their 19 league matches this season and come off the bench in another. He’s probably started more games than any of our defenders have.

Last year was a write off for him but I wish we’d had him in our side for 15 games this season, TBH.

Probably the best centre half in the championship when fit.

You can't build a team around a lad who misses a few weeks every winter though so I was pleased with our stance on his new deal.

Loved him when he was here, the injuries annoyed me but I was very disappointed that he left under a cloud.

It’s a bit early for his yearly long term injury, I recall he never made an appearance for us in February.
