Awful performance from the seagull lovers

Luton are a very physical side and that got them over the line. Sunderland are a young side and they were missing some important players.

Thought they might have nicked something at the end which would have been a better result for us!

Their passing was awful and they were too easily bundled off the ball. They should have tried to play football rather than joining in with Luton style.

Disagree, I think Luton winnings the better result.
Mackems would play better on a big pitch like Wembley, where as I think it might be tougher for Luton to play 'their style' on a big pitch.

TheWembley pitch is no different from most others, and is smaller than ours. It's hard to say which result is best but the physicality of Luton on set pieces could cause us problems. I think we'd beat either in truth, tonight may be the toughest game

Agree. I think Coventry will be a tough tough game. We have struggled to break them down over 3 games this season. We need an early goal to draw them out and make it a better game for us. Focus on Luton if we get past Coventry.

It was men against boys last night really. You could tell Sunderland were lacking experienced physical players. They were always up against it.

Fair play to them for this season. Expect them to break the points record next season with Stewart fit all season 😉

I was having this debate with one of my mates last night. We mentioned the pitch size and after a bit of Googling realised it was a myth!

However, my preference was still Luton. They’re brilliant at home on their tight and compact pitch. We done well at their place on their own patch with a bit of a weakened side.

Sunderland are dangerous when they have more room to play football, similar to us. I could envisage a pretty open game with a few goals. Sunderland were bullied and strangled last night, given very little space by Luton.

Obviously we have to get there, but I’d hope if we do that our overall quality would shine through in the final.

Best result. Lets face it Sunderland sneaked in on the lowest points for a play off place for a long while because both Millwall and Blackburn totally froze in the last 8 games , except Blackburn suddenly came to life in the last 45mins of the season to provide the only result which let the Sunlun in. Bizarre
But I disagree that Luton will play the same way in the final . They won't . Home game under the lights on a barmy evening very different to wide open Wembley in the afternoon sun with £170m resting on the result when you been in a hotel for last 36 hours.

It’s not a myth compared to Luton’s pitch which is the important factor. Luton can’t play like that at Wembley, too much space.

Young team, Luton worked incredibly hard and were physically much stronger.

It wasn't a good day for the purists, or anyone who likes football for that matter, but given their budget Luton have done really well.

Not that we are there yet but Luton (who are) are:

- 2nd in the away form table for the season (behind Burnley)
- 9th in the home form table

It's true, although they've not really struggled on the road in the league. Having said that we're probably the best side moving the ball around and keeping possession so it would be an interesting match up if we get there.

too much is being made of the pitch size imho.

Luton are 2nd in the away form league behind Burnley, I don’t think their pitch is as important as people are making out

They’ve won more away games than home over the 46 game season

Too physical for them. Thought Luton were a bit fortunate to keep Morris on the pitch and the officials missed a few shoves and pushes. Summed it up late on when one of their players patted Patrick Roberts on the head :ROFLMAO:
