Away matches with Boro where you have gone in the home areas.

Prenton Park once
That must have the last game of the 94/95 season, I forgot I was sat in the home end for this because all the stands were packed with Boro so felt a home game.
Lincoln city friendly before first ever prem season. Got beat 5-1, on the way out their fans asked “how many of your first team were playing ?” “All of ‘em”

And this one as well, I'm not sure there was an away end that day, not many Boro went and they were scattered around the ground.
Things I remember about this was we had a young trailee from Dundee or Dundee Utd, who did some nice touches but did the loudest ' **** off" to a referee I have ever heard in a stadium against a decision, his name was Michael .... Something or other and was a Young Northern Ireland Intl, don't think he played for us again. On the was back to London after the match I had the delight of been in the buffet car with some mags who had been to York City, they assumed I wanted to know their opinion on my club, etc etc, and why didn't we get on the pitch at Stamford Bridge in the play off etc etc.

I was in the Gallowgate with a geordie mate when Zenden scored in that end in the early 2000’s obviously I kept very very quiet indeed….

There's been quite a few, most of the big last away games back in the day; Donny, Sheffield Wed, Tranmere, Wolves.

Hillsborough 89
Prenton Park 95
Roker Park 96 - Emerson rocket
St James Park - 0-0 draw
Bramall Lane for a friendly

Roker by far the worst but even that wasn't that bad. Just a bit of banter really.

Done it a few times, but there was one week in particulate where I had a great time.

Tranmere away in Robbos first season being the most bizarre as the whole stand seemed to be Boro

Preceeded by the last game at Ayresome where I had joined their membership scheme for the 5-1 defeat but then got to usen t to get a ticket in Luton end forvthat glorious last Ayresome Park game and was then in the Stoke end v Bolton a few days later when our promotion was confirmed (I lived in Stoke, so no special journey)

Must have been the 2-1 win in 2000/01.
A double from Boksic and then Nobby missed an 85th min penalty.
There were still about 10 games left so not quite a relegation decider - but it felt like it at the time 🙂

Funny how the mind works isn’t it.
From memory I could have sworn a draw would have sent us down 😊
That’s what supporting this team does to you - always think the worst

Did this a lot in the 80s. We'd moved away from Boro and were living near Huddersfield so there were lots of easily accessible away games that I went to with my dad. Always in with the home fans as it was much easier for getting away and back home, especially as we neither needed nor wanted to get escorted back to the train station. Who recalls the way away fans were policed back then eh? Not nice.

Can't even remember everywhere we went, but definitely Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, Barnsley, both Sheffield, both Manchester, Bury, Burnley, Bolton, Rochdale, Rotherham, Doncaster, Chesterfield, Oldham (brrrr!).

Elland Road by some distance the most unpleasant, a truly awful experience, and always accompanied by an atrocious result.

Barnsley definitely the best, never even had to pretend to be anything other than a Boro fan there. Favourite was (I think) a 3-0 win towards the end of the 87/88 promotion season - Tykes more than happy to chat and express approval at how good we were that day.

Coventry Nov 81, drew 1-1. Still don't understand why I was in the home end with a mate who was at Uni there. Spent second half shouting for Hodgy to stay onside.
Arsenal Cup 5th round replay in 83 stood on North Bank, lost 3-2.
Newcastle March 84 lost 1-3. Was in Gallowgate, sheer misery.
West Ham April 89, won 2-1, late Bernie brace. Uncomfortable.
Wolves promotion match May 92 won 2-1, lots of beatings taken by Boro fans.
Ninian Park for Cardiff FA Cup 1994. 2-2 nearly lynched.
League Cup semi final 1st leg at Anfield in 98. lost 1-2, nearly lynched when Merse scored early.
Man Utd Feb 2004 won 3-2, Juninho headed brace. Outstanding.
Manchester City May 2005 1-1 JFH screamer. Very lively when the penalty was saved.
Fulham April 2015 Lost 3-4. Almost arrested for abusing Ross McCormack on his lap of honour.

Overall I've got some great memories, but would always have preferred to be amongst my own.

I've also been in boxes, but that doesn't count quite the same.
Sunderland a dozen times (lively), also at Newcastle (civilised) and Leeds (hostile) over 10 times each.
Stoke, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Norwich, Man U have all been interesting in different ways.

A few times. Most memorable was on the Stretford End for the LC Semi final in 1992 (?), something like that. Right behind the goal when Schmeichal made the wonder save from Willie Falconer. Bounced up and down a few times when Slaven scored. And in the melee that accompanied Giggs' winner, I kicked a Man U fan up the ****, deliberately.

I went with a Man U supporting mate; we got there at half five for a 7:45 kick off. WTF for? Well because the terrace was already ram packed. There wasn't a single person in the Boro end. Two hours of staring into space.

Upton Park, Halloween 81, lost 3-2, they were given a penalty and an own goal and to sum things up nicely for halloween, I asked a copper for the direction to the away end and once in, was surrounded by folk singing about blowing bubbles. The copper deliberately let me pay to go in the home end. When we got it back to 3-2 I was nervy, they were not a tolerant bunch and I had to stay deathly quiet
You should have shouted..You cant!! a few times. Would of fit right in.

FA Cup
January 2001
Bradford 0 - 1 Middlesbrough (Ricard)

It was the game when Ricard scored that absolute worldie.

We ended up in the paper the next day, they had a big picture of Ricard about to strike the ball and you could see us in the background in the home end because it was almost empty. Absolutely freezing cold night mind, so no wonder.

in the shed with my brother in law, play off final v Chelsea May 1988. Terrible match, great result. Very nasty, threatening atmosphere, so I left very promptly at the end.
Also, a few times at Bristol City, but that was tame in comparison.
