Iolo Jones just confirmed - RSPB Grassholm is the 3rd biggest colony of gannets in the world. Just how devastating could this outbreak be to bird numbers? I read about eagles dying in Mull this week. Yet to be confirmed but likely to be avian flu.

The Bass Rock colony of gannets has been devastated by Avian Flu. Saw some awful footage recently of nesting birds next to decaying corpses of other birds that have succumbed to the infection, as there are no predators or scavengers on these colonies the corpses will simply rot.

Farne islands hit quite badly too this year - looks like everywhere along the coast is taking a hit from it unfortunately
