Aussie F1 Grand Prix Canned

Not surprised.

In fact I'll be surprised if it happens next season. If it doesn't I'd worry for the future of it.

I wonder if they will replace this one like they did with the other cancelled ones? Be cool to see something random like the Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez take it's place.

Given the preceding race is in Brazil it'd be a handy logistical choice.

The Australian GDP has increased by 1.1% from Q1 20 to Q1 21. The UK GDP has fallen by 6.1% over the same period.
To be fair that's probably not COVID related. There may be other reasons why specifically the UK GDP has fallen so dramatically. Can't think of them at the moment though!

Anyway enough of @Colin Warnek and his random derailing of another thread.

At the very least the 2022 Aus GP will have to be scheduled near the back of the calendar. If it's not ready by Nov this year then it's unlikely to be ready by March next.

and yet we are rushing back to packed trains, workplaces and shops just as flu season is about to hit.
Probably because Australia has isolated itself. Which is sensible but it does make things difficult for sports organisers. To be honest it's not my favourite grand prix so I'm not too bothered. I do hope it gets replaced. Just what by, given the cars and teams will be travelling from Brazil?

As I said the resurrecting the Buenos Aires GP would be cool. Or even better, Kyalami

One of the few GPS I have been to. Melbourne is buzzing that week.

Is it good? My mate had tickets for last year. I think he tried to get them rolled over to this year. So he's gutted. I was also going to the Singapore Grand Prix this year. So these cancellations are hitting me and my friends hard. I can see why though. Both countries are very strict in their COVID rules. Singapore will currently only let two whole countries enter, Brunei and New Zealand (although it will allow travel from certain regions in china and Australia). These tight rules make something as international as F1 almost impossible to host.

Do we think it'll be replaced? Or do we think it'll just be season over?

I dont see them replacing it with another. They say they can deliver 23 GPs so
maybe 2 at one circuit? I may be wrong.

I had the beat week there - Melbourne is a great city. March 2016. Hamilton was on pole but Nico Rosberg won it. Creash stopped race half way through when Alonso and Gutierrez collided. It changed the fortunes of the race. The venue is in the City in Albert Park around a lake so spectacular setting.
