A few posters mentioned set piece coaches on the blue card thread but not sure if you realise but Villa under unai emery already have a man just for set pieces and he’s causing quite a stir…

Aye, the BBC commentary team mentioned it when they visited the Riverside. I would love to see us take set pieces more seriously and maybe explore this.
 
To be fair our goal against Sunderland was from a pre planned set piece.. only Hackney’s touch back to Greenwood was a poor one which led to his weak shot.

I mentioned last week that our short corner against Chelsea was excellent at Stamford Bridge. It had obviously been worked on and it nearly came off, with the Chelsea keeper saving from Rogers, who I felt never really got his foot behind the shot.
 
We’re good at conceding from set pieces 😳 7 or 8 from corners so far if i remember rightly 😭
 
Villa created multiple opportunities against us from set pieces! We literally couldn't handle it. They eventually got their goal from working it short and creating an overload
 
I have loads of brilliant ideas for set pieces. Stuff like everyone is on the halfway line and they all start legging it towards the box about twenty seconds before the corner is taken.
I don't know why people never try stuff like this.

Or you could engineer a fake fight or argument between two players and when everyone is distracted the corner gets whacked in.

Or the big players pick the little ones up and just hoy them at the ball when it's crossed in.

Or everyone apart from the one blocking the keeper runs out the box when the corner is whipped in, the defence discombobulated (thank you autocorrect) clear the ball poorly which drops to one of the many players outside the box who volleys home.

To be fair we would probably struggle on set pieces against villa under 5s.
I think the biggest weakness in dael frys game is he is not great in the corner scrum.
