He has not changed much over the years thats for sure, still true to himself, his honesty and frankness shines through like a beacon of hope across an ocean of guff that is the modern football way. As I have said before, appointing him is the best thing Gibson has done in years, the club, fans and squad are as united as we have been since the early Robbo days for me.
The thing I love about Neil, and I have been saying this since the day we first crossed paths down at the Athletic Ground (McCain Stadium), he is such an infectious, likeable and honest character. Humour is never far away and he creates bonds, be that with owners, players or fans, even his biggest critics are soon won over when they see first hand what he brings, which is totally different to the hacks that report on him. We are so lucky to have him now, but oh where our club could have been had he come in in say 2006, 2009 or even 2017.
He admitted he comes on here too, which is nice, long may he get his kicks just off the A66. I especially loved the fact he is wanting the couple of wingers I have been crying out for for years. Hopefully he gets the pace and creativity that will give us that extra fizz in the coming months. He has also acknowledged Saville is an attacking midfield player to boost the midfield goal tally and not the No6 Pulis and latterly Woodgate tried to make him into. We are beginning to see Saville produce now he has licence to get forward. Amazing what a bit of mercurial man management and motivation can do.
Happy Christmas Neil, the thought of you in your jim-jams on Christmas day, slobbing round your house like the rest of us, shows what a man of the people you really are, just make sure Sav hasn’t got a new camera for Christmas and you don’t stray too close to the window
