As a fan - as an individual:

I like Michael Carrick, I think what he achieved as a player and over coming some difficulties with his mental health, I think he comes across as a top man. That said he can only use the tools available at his disposal.

One of the biggest frustrations with Michael Carrick is he simply isn't using the tools at his disposal. He continues to leave his best tool in the tool box!

Hopefully Roofie, we will turn this around and stay up to give it a go next season. Its a tough job that we have to do and try and emulate the like of Brentford and Not Leeds Utd or Norwich (that wouldn't hurt) but we need to build something solid over a time. We have tried a Yorkshire Dinosaur and Yorkshire gobs-chites, this will work given chance by building with a younger squad. I admire you post.

I am not suggesting that people should be happy. I have been going for 26 years and I am just as disappointed as the next person. But with respect it was fans and some of the media that set that expectation despite it costing £50m to stand still. To bring in the team that we had last year and *not improve it* would have cost £50m. That was never going to happen. I don’t see what foundations we had? They were loan signings. It’s miles away from the core squad between the playoff final and the following year. The club has tried to manage those expectations. The entire window was described as a “project”.

I can’t speak for everyone else but I have not turned up to the Riverside expecting to see a promotion contender since about February 2016.

This is the first big test for Carrick. It’s not unusual for teams to go through these periods. We are all desperate to see improvement. It’s also a test for fans, football at our level is not perpetual growth - this season is a transition.
The club finished 4th last season. Before we tapped into the loan market we were still in play off form. We have signed full squad of “ development players” the aim should have been to again get some real quality loans and tie Akpom down to a new contract. Every season js a “ transition “ season most seasons it’s always this season will be a “ transition one” that equates to we haven’t recruited properly and will struggle

This is a really strange thread, It seems like the warm weather has turned loads of you into silly sausages.

Good evening your highness (y)
And a good evening to you. Are you a part of this imaginary hierarchy of posters on here? Is it all weird robes and funny handshakes and bizarre rituals? Can I come to the next meeting? Sounds like my kind of thing.

I dont think anyone has identified the seniors in this imagined "hierarchy".
If you wear Wranglers, a denim jacket with cut-offs and know all the words to "I`de love to change the world" by Ten Years After - you`re IN (y)

I think that Nobby and Boro_Legend are the bosses on here roofie. I'm a Levi's and a leather jacket bloke myself so I'm never going to be royalty on here. I can live with that.

It’s only natural that some fans cannot accept that we sold a striker who had scored 29 goals in the previous campaign, but then this sort of thing is not unique. I was in my early days of supporting Boro when we sold a man who had netted 204 goals in 222 appearances for us. What really rubbed that in was we gave BC to Sunderland not Ajax.
It only took Boro another 13 seasons to get back into the top flight after that. So maybe a bit of patience is required.

Incompetent owners back then too.

I saw a newcastle fans badge through other day and it has.really resonated with me.

When we win we enjoy
When we lose we are loyal.

I appreciate this isn't always true but what a great principle.

Some posters on here should remain calm and let's give carrick the chance as.a new manager to.see who he really is.

I've had rhe red dog for weeks not the black dog... but I am 100% committed to carrick
